This popped into my mind this afternoon

Those covid recruiting years killed us with a lack of offensive line guys in particular. Go look up 2020 and 2021 classes and tell me who's contributing from those classes. At least one if not two of those years our coaches couldn't really do much in-home visits, camps, etc. It was a lot of zoom meetings.

I say this because if you really want to get into it...I think you'll see that Kennedy and by extension Pittman did not recoup their losses fast enough with student-athletes that were going to excel and play meaningful snaps starting this season.

It's one of those things where it is what it is and everyone in the country had the same problems so it can't really be much of an excuse and possibly more of an indictment about their ability to evaluate talent.

Re: QB capabilities. Without going back to find the posts, there were comments here about how Ryan Mallet and Lamar Jackson weren't scientific rockets, either (comparing KJ).

In his press conference, Petrino specifically said that they were. He said Mallet was one of his smartest quarterbacks ever, and Lamar Jackson was the same way. They could both go to the line of scrimmage, see the defense, and get you out of a bad play call.

That was me. I tried and failed to make the point that I'd like KJ to stay and get a year under HIM. My subsequent argument, which also apparently sucked, was that BMFP will take your dumb qb, like Mallett, and KJ, and help make him really good, and as NFL ready as your ability allows.

I was wrong about Mallet. Hearing Petrino talk about it, he was really smart in the QB room. Again, I was wrong, mea culpa.

However, right now we do have a 6'4", 245lb QB on campus, who has broken almost every record for every quarterback ever at the University of Arkansas.

I do wonder if Petrino is in KJ's ear to stay.
