There were two big donors who told Yurachek when he gave Sam the extension a couple of years ago that he jumped the gun and don't come asking them to write a big check to pay Sam's buyout if Sam imploded and needed firing in a couple of years. Whether that was a factor in the decision to retain Sam I don't know, but I'm very confident based on my source that the story is true.

I am sick of the term "serious" when used in connection with the football program.  It is meaningless.  Any athletic department that spends as much money as we do is "serious".  "Serious" is not synonymous with "successful."

You can be both dead serious and dead wrong about how to go about conducting a successful athletic program. The more of a narcissist you are the worse it may be for a guy to see where he's in the wrong and affect change.

In Pittman's case I fully believe he understands his limitations and is willing to cede power in favor of winning hense his reasoning in being ok with BMFP. Anyone over their head better have the ability to hire better people to surround themselves with. But those people also have to be able to recruit in order to support and justify their stations.
