According to Biddy he's still eligible to enter the portal and play elsewhere but can never play for us again since we put him on medical hardship.

Somehow Gerald was taken off a medical hardship and did play again.

It would be a huge gamble to try to play after a neck injury like that but this kid was on a trajectory of being a NFL caliber db. This isn't a shoulder thing though...if he were to play again and even impress I doubt he's drafted. More like an UFA that would have to make it on a roster so the odds are incredibly long that he'd ever get paid to play. His best bet is to take advantage of the free ride on education, maybe go be a student-coach, ga go for a coaching career.

I am not surprised that the staff wants the scholarship and put him on a medical but on the same token the way he's acting it's a surprise to him. We may not get much clarification on this until spring ball where the scrub media meekly asks the question.

Sterling Sharpe had a neck injury in the 90s and never cleared to play again cutting his career short in his prime. I was trying to find an example of a football player coming back from a broken neck and not having much look with this.

had a junior camp last week. offered a lb from the portal.

probably will wait until after spring ball to fill the roster out.

God bless John Rutledge. 

For those of you who don't remember, in maybe about 2000, we had about 4 or 5 qbs get hurt during the season. I can't even remember all the names, except Zack Clark was one of them.  Nutt went to the intramural fields and got John Rutledge from Searcy (who had admittedly been a walk-on on the team the previous Spring, if I remember correctly).  We were playing Alabama that week.  First drive, Rutledge led us to a touchdown.

He is one of Reynie Rutledge's boys (think First Security Bank).
