I think this year will show if he has the drive left or not.  If he comes out of the booth and tries to strangle Pittman on the sidelines, then I say fire Pittman after game 5 and hire him.  If he is content to sit up in the booth and not commit violence against the fatman during the whole year if it is a shitshow on the sidelines, then he has lost his fire.

For starters, you hire the best coach you can which means when you have the chance to hire Norvel or Kiffin, you don't go cheap and you don't hire the conference coach that lost to them.

To me, "not serious about football" is firing the only good coach we've had since the 1980s over some HR bullshit that, if it was truly a firable offense should have taken down the coach's immediate supervisor who signed a waiver to allow the hire.

Finally coming around to Pittman, "not serious about football" is failing to fire a guy who underachieved greatly two years in a row (relative to the talent he had - not to national expectations) because we wanted to save the major college equivalent of a few dollars.  This in a year when the league media payout is going up by an annual amount that would cover the buyout all at once even though it was due to be paid over five years. 

The first two decisions Munsoned us to at best being a second class citizen in the SEC.  The third is likely to drop us another tier or two...thank God for Vandy (maybe).

I love Petrino but don't see that happening and don't necessarily want it. I don't think he wants to be a head coach again and I can't see him him handling NIL or the portal well. That said, I'd love for him to be OC for as long as he likes.

I don't suffer any fantasy of BMFP being the choice if/when Tittboss is let go. For starters he will by then be part of a failed staff, he's aging, and they'll be a push for another flash in the pan type that gets pocket books wet. That won't happen either but I guy can dream.

The only way we'll see Petrino back as head coach is if Pittman is fired after a few games or falls on his sword and even then don't be shocked if we go to the DC because you know...we're Arkansas. In all honesty I think Petrino wants to live out his days as the OC and I think there is enough incentive for a couple older guys to figure it out and have their retirement gig for a decent token run in the twilight of their careers.

Like I said earlier, we'd probably be lucky to get Barry Odom especially if he brings his OC Brennan Marion with him. We tried to hire him before BMFP last year.

imo, the guys who can push the program forward financially probably realize that it would take damn near the second coming of christ type shit to happen for arkansas to actually win the sec anytime soon, but i don't think they have given up and are content with sub 500 seasons either.

Not sure that's how "below .500" works but I think it stands to reason he'll be given ample opportunity to go 2-5.

I think anywhere near .500 he keeps his job thru the season and then most likely it'll be time for a change. This administration is supremely scared to fire the football coach I believe. It showed some balls to hire Petrino back to bring some credibility to a sinking ship. Pittman was a panic hire after nobody wanted the gig and we were down to literally a O Line coach from the glory years of Bert. Let that sink in. Nice guy. Hell maybe he'll get us back into the Liberty bowl conversation again. Crazier things have happened. Maybe when things go tits up we aren't willing to accept that these coaches can turn things around...certainly nobody is willing to sit thru 2-10 season after 2-10 season...we aren't Vanderbilt. Thanks. I wasn't sure of the record. I hadn't really thought of it that way but you're probably right. That Ok St game looms large for him. UAPB shouldn't even count.
