With Pittman, our recruiting has actually improved from where it's historically been. But other programs have leveraged NIL and the portal better than we have and have just gotten that much further ahead. Exhibit A Ole Miss. We replace our guys with depth needing development, they replace theirs with All SEC stars.

I like Pittman and my prognosis does not give me joy.

chicken man and the other big dicks will put up the money to hire someone who has a clue, and maybe jump start the collective a little bit, but i don't think it's realistic to think those guys on going to drop 6 figures every year for nil. tyson said so himself after the cal hire.

personally i think the 'can't afford it' excuse is bogus. less than 900 hog fans nationwide participate. there's probably that many in the dallas and houston areas alone that are doing quite well enough to afford at least $25/month.

Pittman had his one good year when what's-his-nuts recruits were redshirt sophomores, juniors, or seniors. And maybe a couple Bert holdovers. And Odom's transfers plus Ridgeway, who was probably all Odom too.

Agreed, however, for the twonyear pass to work, he better hope he retains the players here with the "committed" recruits coming in next year.

The portal rules as they stand now, make it virtually impossible to retain talent. Let alone our inept AD and company to bring back a culture of winning.

This will be like LSU not firing Le Smiles at the end of 2015. I am not saying anything new we haven't said before. Lasso Tits is a dead man walking.

Anyway, here's to BMFP back wearing a hog, because that's all I have looking forward to.

It's an unpopular take here I'm sure, even somewhat in my own mind, but if Sam gets to 7-5 this year somehow we should be ecstatic and he should stick around.  This roster is ass, my dude. 

There is lots of indirect blame being placed on KJ for enjoying being rich and not working hard last year, fucking up the chemistry and making the team much worse than it should've been.  Let's hope that is true.

So, I heard through a semi inside source (indirectly through a player) that we are going to absolutely suck this year.  I'm qualifying this in that I didn't talk to the player myself, so maybe it's overblown but allegedly the new QB is terrible.  Who knows?  Maybe they'll improve but the small amount of optimism I had, went out the window.  I am now "we suck until you prove differently" mode.

I think on paper we are a better overall roster coming into the season than we were last season. Obviously nobody could have predicted that Sanders would never get on track, Jefferson was hit so many times he went stupid and the ENOS experiment was over before it began mostly due to no blockers.

We've upgraded the offensive line. A position group our head coach who's expertise is founded on...the same position group he admitted he needed to pay more attention. 

We return most of the WRs that could be more productive under Petrino's system. Not a lot of legit stars on the roster but if anyone can turn these guys into something productive it's going to be Petrino. 

The TE position figures to be better assuming Hasz plays an entire season. I don't know that I'm buying that Gums is better but supposedly he's more comfortable in this new offense. I think Hasz gets used early and often much like Petrino went to using DJ Williams back in the day.

Quarterback: I'm not sold on the kid but I think schematically he's going to be better for what we're doing now. He's going to give us some big broken play runs akin to KJ but he'll be more under control in the passing game. The dude historically has been erratic in his play...that won't sit well with BMFP. KJ Jackson is a stud and I wouldn't be shocked if they go to him at the mid-season mark if this thing goes tits up.
Defensively...we'll see. The defensive line has depth. Linebacker not so much. Our secondary has some promising young talent.

Kicker? We'll see if we have a passable kicker

Punter? Guy looked decent in the spring game for whatever that matters

silver lining is we lost 5 games last season by 1 score or less. I think that includes games against BYU and Miss State that cannot happen on your home field. As time has gone on we tend to lose the tight ones and that's usually a sign of bad game management/coaching decisions. You can mask the stank on that by hiring people under you that do know what they are doing. Ultimately Pittman has to learn this shit or GTFO...he's 4 years into being a head coach and still needs training wheels.

I like the guy and hope he can be successful...I think he's a good fit but he rubbed people the wrong way last season when he was hyping up the team going into the season only to lay a egg. Some of that was the horrendous play of the running backs and QB play. A lot of it was the offensive line that was clearly terrible and playing in a scheme they weren't comfortable with.

I think it was Adam Ford and that other guy that's more of a LSU fan (Power hour) that covers Arkansas on youtube both illustrated that our backs last season tended to go down at first contact and none of them were all that good at making a guy miss. I think the backs we have this season may prove to be better in that regard. I like the Utah transfer...kid seems to run hard. Dubinion is back and hopefully they get more out of him than we've ever seen. Russell will play a lot too.

I don't expect BMFP to magic this shit up in his first season back but if he can give us anything close to what we had under Briles production wise I think we'll win some games.
