our backs last season tended to go down at first contact and none of them were all that good at making a guy miss.

Many woopiggers, self included, saw the same thing. Diagnosed/observed in game threads with such comments as, why do our backs repeatedly run directly to the one tackler who can make the play? Perhaps their vision is bad? Perhaps they don't know they are supposed to run to the green space and not the other team?

I've never really gotten over the Bert and Chad days.  The fall is a great time of year with lots of cool things to do on the weekends that are harder to do if you are tied to the football schedule.  Not caring frees up a lot of time for other fun stuff.

So, I heard through a semi inside source (indirectly through a player) that we are going to absolutely suck this year.  I'm qualifying this in that I didn't talk to the player myself, so maybe it's overblown but allegedly the new QB is terrible.  Who knows?  Maybe they'll improve but the small amount of optimism I had, went out the window.  I am now "we suck until you prove differently" mode.

You needed an inside source to tell you that? Last season wasn't enough to figure that out own your own?

I had HOPED this would be akin to the 2009 season when we were 'good', but you could sure the fuck tell that we were GOING to be good in the future.  I'm afraid it will be more like 2008 when we weren't good and it wasn't clear when we would be good, but you could see we at least had a plan.

Baylor could very well be open next year and I assume they would go after him.

I don't know that there's any coach worth a damn that would take our job unless they got a huge NIL commitment like Calipari. And even then it will probably still be a Group of 5 head coach or a Power 4 assistant.

I agree on Baylor-- they will take a shot at him.  They had a number of east Texas guys back when Traylor was at Gilmer-- in fact I believe they had a couple of his players.  I have been touting him for our job for years.

Looking at the schedule, unless Green has a better arm than he has shown so far in his career, I see 4-8/1-7 as best case scenario. Sam might be spending Saturdays on the lake with HTL after the Texas game.

Thankfully this is the last year in Dallas. Are we still contracted to play in War Memorial after this season?
