Green is a classic case of a kid that another school couldn't get out of him what they needed but now an SEC school will? It's doubtful, but if anyone can pull it off it'll be Petrino. I don't think there are very many recent examples of so-so QBs moving to a P5 and blowing up. A good team can probably take a veteran lower level guy and keep on clicking. A bad team is not taking a lower level guy and suddenly he's a star.

I don't think anyone doubts the talent is there...it will come down to handling the mental aspects of the game. Petrino has had decent success with QBs with weaker arms so I'm not entirely concerned about that. I think more concerning from what I've seen/heard about Green is his accuracy tends to go to shit due to poor mechanics. That's something that will get beaten out of him or they'll have the next guy in there taking snaps.

Somehow some way I still think we get better numbers out of the QB position than we've seen from last season or two.

this could have gone in a couple of threads, but i'll put it here. starting in the 2025-26 academic year, a full 105 scholarships will be available for football.

the change that will have the most impact imo, will be for baseball - 34 schollies, 15 for bball, 25 for softball, and 18 for volleyball.

those aren't required to be filled, just made available.

For football this should leave more room to sign/develop JUCOs or lower tier players as backup plans when the higher star kids flake out and portal.

Only transfer I can think of who moved up to P5 and had success was Gardner Minchew (east carolina to Washington state). Usually the kid transfers down to have success.

Cam Ward is one. Starred at Incarnate Word and then did well at Washington St. Now he'll be the starter for Miami this season.

Also, Minshew had the advantage of playing in the Mike Leach offense at Washington St.

I will say this, it seems like every time Gundy has a big year (i.e. winning 10+ plus games), he follows it up with a clunker the next year.

His teams also take time to gel. I like the fact the game is at 11 a.m. Chance to sneak up on them compared to if it was a 7 p.m. or 8 p.m. kickoff.
