QB1 (Green) is shaky in practice. RS-FR QB (Singleton) is playing good.

FWIW Green's NIL money is going to be tough to keep him off the field.

What does NIL have to do with playing time?   

NIL got the kid to campus and keeps the kid on campus if warranted.  

If the kid sucks, he already has his money, so play the best talent.  If he sucks and leaves, who cares?

Is Petrino around as much as the other assistants?  I would imagine his age might influence his role more than anything.  He has grandkids and is too old for that shit is probably what he told them.  I also imagine with him being the former beloved head coach, optics guided a mutual decision by all that he not be visible.

Are they even hitting yet? I don't get too high or too low on this practice stuff although last season there was a lot of talk that this team SUCKED...when the coaches were jizzing over the d line.

It depends.  Does the booster funding that NIL actually think he's getting business value by paying it?   If so, he probably gets more with Green on the field versus carrying a clipboard.

My thought is the NIL "investment" gets the nod unless turns into a complete disaster or gets beat out real bad.

When asked in one of the pressers about the QBs, Pittman went out of his way to stress that "#2, Malachi" is practicing really well. He added that Green wasn't as sharp with his passing on that particular day as he had been.

If Enos were still OC, I think we would see a replay of last year where our starting QB is forced to execute in an offense that doesn't suit his particular skill set. Petrino, I think, won't make that mistake.

Green is a dangerous weapon because of his legs; his arm is only useful in that the D has to scheme for the fact that he is capable of completing passes to open receivers. I think we will see Petrino devise plays that emphasize Green's strengths rather than his weaknesses. If the D sells out against the run, I think Green is competent enough with his arm to make them pay until they adjust. Also, Green seems to have that "it" factor as a leader and the team seems to believe in him so far.

Having said all that, I don't think Petrino would hesitate for a minute to elevate Singleton to #1 if he thought doing so would improve the offense.

Same.  But my concern is if the booster footing the bill tries to force the issue under threat of taking his NIL money and going home.  Because that would be the most Arkansas thing ever.

We were plagued under Briles and Enos (and Chaggie and most of Bert's tenure) by sloppy routes making it impossible to get separation when receivers had matchup or position advantages.  If Bobby could come in and just fix that simple issue then it's believable that we could have a much improved stable.

this is the problem with NIL - just like in the NFL how do you bench the QB who is your highest paid player for one who is not? Big difference is NIL can't be tied to performance which makes it a total crap shoot. that would also create some tension in the locker room wouldn't it? Who decides who gets what NIL wise?

Wasn't Green benched at Boise? One benefit of Bobby as OC is we trust he won't give 2 shits about who's making what NIL, dude just wants to win. That said, they will probably go with Green too long as the starter (baseball/dvh at times has the same issue).

another thought - if Bobby can't help Green get better then Green is yet another evaluation by a Pittman staff. Look at his history, his QBs may not be pro material but they are usually very effective performers if not successful system QBs.
