Ole Miss probably has zero billionaire donors.  We have somewhere between 5-20.  Maybe do a better job cultivating those instead of trying to get fans in one of the poorest states to donate even more. 

One billionaire is worth probably 100,000 grass roots donors, even if the latter are giving as much as they can afford and then some.  The AD is paid in excess of a million dollars per year to figure out how to do this.  I've been a big supporter of Yurachek, but if he's taking this approach he can go play in traffic for all I care.

Ole Miss isn't funding their collective primarily through individual grass roots donors.  They're doing it with the guy who owns two tractor dealerships in Belzoni and Itta Bena, the personal injury lawyer in Biloxi, the guy who owns a plumbing business in Tupelo, etc.  From what I can tell, we aren't cultivating these relationships at all, or if we are we're doing a piss poor job of it.  They can justify NIL deals for athletes as a vanity project or a way to help win games, where Walmart, Tyson (corporate), etc. can't due to the lack of ROI for their shareholders.

The day the ArkansasEdge website went live, I submitted the form expressing interest in business partnerships, mainly out of curiosity.  To this day I have still not received so much as a courtesy reply.  My business is nowhere near large enough to make a difference, but the people at ArkansasEdge don't know that.  And if I'm not getting a response, I imagine there are businesses who could move the needle who are getting a similar lack of interest from them.

I don't really have any interest in giving to a program that's not interested in winning, but they've done a terrible job of marketing the NIL stuff. Have multiple tiers, $10, $25, $50 a month. Give out some nice swag every month, not some bullshit keychain, maybe a team exclusive t shirt like the basketball wears. Just saying "we need to give more money" isn't enough.

Pretty rich the guy making over a million a year (obviously not spending it on quality sport coats) is telling the majority of Arkansas who make what $60,000 a year or less they need to pony up or the football team can't get better players to be poorly coached.

If there is one legitimate criticism for HY's tenure, it's his handling of NIL. From the start, it was either behind or the ball was dropped entirely.

I was actually a little disappointed that I saw nowhere accepting donations to the NIL at the stadium Saturday.  Why not?  Could have picked up an extra 50k pretty easy.

Within minutes of posting something similar on another board someone reached out to me regarding this issue.  So at least someone is listening and apparently trying.  Hopefully they are working to catch up.

Well, for starters we need to let Saracen run the 50/50. Barring something of this sort we can't compete in the NIL football wars IMO.

Ole Miss did a few fairly intelligent things right. A. They hired a head coach that is engaging, a smart ass but he's their smart ass. At any rate it was just good timing on their part because he's exactly the kind of guy you need running a program and pitching NIL. None of this "we want to do it the right way" stuff. B. They fucking win ball games further enhancing this thought that maybe just maybe they got a real shot at relevance.

Ok and here is another thing I know it's been brought up before and perhaps this is the same way at other places but Arkansas (or RF) has repeatedly hired 25 year olds to front run the funding and marketing efforts (now Arkansas Edge NIL) for something that needs to be a mult-imillon dollar per year venture. Somehow the good people at Hibu come to mind here...it's lazy and a superficial approach to competing on a national scale requisite of a SEC mover and shaker. Then they wonder why it's flopping big time.

HY is dead on with the truth though and I get why nobody wants to hear it. I do believe we need to be keeping up with Ole Miss as our bench mark for success. We need 5 or 10k NIL collective members regularly chipping in especially in a state that might produce 3 SEC bodies in football per year and another 7-12 FBS guys. We also need successful small businesses to help with that as well and it can't always be about producing results. I think you need a long view approach and that's just not what anyone is ready to accept and especially not with the turd we have now running the show.

In essence this program in football resembles a Nutt team in many ways. We have a freak athlete or two that we hope bails us out and little else to go with it. The biggest difference is we aren't going against a bunch of other meat heads. Most of these coaches now days are very much dialed in on what they need to do.

When we arrived in the SEC my perception of especially Ole Miss and LSU is that they were our equals in many respects. Now both have passed us by and Missouri right behind them. It's a failure in leadership.

I mentioned going to Backyard BBQ in Magnolia in the game thread. What I didn't mention is that the place had on multiple football games. You know who wasn't on? The Razorbacks. We were playing and a joint in Arkansas that has football on during a Saturday didn't put on the Razorbacks. I was a bit taken back by that and I know south Arkansas isn't exactly Hog country but still it just goes to show that people don't give any fucks.

South Arkansas used to be nearly exclusively Hog country.  There was the occasional LSU fan, but even in dark times nearly everyone there supported the Hogs.

Ole Miss wasn't just our equal.  They were beneath us by pretty much any measure.  The only thing area where they have us beat today is leadership, like you said above.

I remember when Tuberville took them to the Motor City Bowl.  I had a meeting with a fairly big OM booster at the time.  He was cognizant of the fact that their support and success was far behind ours...they treated that trip like we would have a Sugar Bowl berth at the time.

I was in Fayetteville last weekend.  What I heard from people that should know is that Yurachek has been beating the bushes pretty strongly up there and in LR.

The real problem as I have said many times is that these donations need to be repeated on a yearly basis.  One year, 2 or 3, etc isn't too bad (although I'll bet Oaklawn doesn't give $500k to the Foundation again next year) but people are going to get tired of it eventually.

Interesting-- my son-in-law knows that Carlton Saffa guy pretty well.  They were in school together, and both were higher ups in the ASG.  I was told Saffa is pretty smart, but a really weird guy. Not sure exactly what that means, but it may be a factor in his ability to negotiate.
