Isn't it so typical Arkansas?  When Pittman was hired the consensus was that even if he was really successful he had about a five year shelf life given his age and all that.  Now, here we are, year five he is NOT really successful and it looks like we are going to be stuck with him for as long as he wants to stick around stinking it up. lol

I mean, yeah, we all thought at the time he was a  bridge hire with the hope that his recruiting acumen (at the time) and strong assistants through his connections/reputation, that it could work. That CEO style formula got Ed O and Dabo national championships, though look at them now.

Here we are 5 years later, better than Morris but fighting for bowl eligibility, struggling at home, losing nonconference games, and well below .500 in conference play.

If he would leave on his own, he could still get credit for improving the program a bit and making it easier to hire a replacement.  But he needs to go.  If not, he is going to tank us and be as unpopular as anyone ever was.

He should announce it so that we can all root for the team and him to go out on a high note.  If that is the plan, he is bur ing a lot of good will.

this is what i think happens. he looks totally beat down. in addition to his hip issues, he seemed to think early on he had a handle on the portal and nil and that has become way more than he bargained for. and he wouldn't be the only 'older' guy that has gotten to the point and decided 'fuck all that'.

i think he's made somewhere in the $15 million range after this season, has no kids and probably wishes he could just get his surgery and kick back at the lake house. slide him into some nil gladhand position. hookers, blow, and cole beer at the lake.

that's my wishful theory anyways.

He's still on track to win 6 this season plus the added woes me excuse of NIL poor figures gets him the option to stay. 

An L vs Miss State would severely alter those chances of the option to stay.

Beyond that we were talking about this same thing last season about this time. He looks tired. He's washed. He's gonna fall on his sword because he's a good little boy. The hip may be enough for him to gracefully bow out but I'd imagine he's gonna make them make him leave because that's the smart money. There may be a parting of ways where everyone gives a hug and tug on the way out but one way or the next he's getting all or most of his buyout.

It depends on the duty to mitigate, if there is one in the contract. 

You get $3MM per year for the next four years but you are obligated to seek another job and take it if offered.  Or you can take $3MM for two years and retire to your lake house with no such duty. 

I'm not saying Sam will take the latter, but there is an opportunity to negotiate.  Due to the busted hip I doubt Sam really wants to be in and out of airplanes recruiting as an OL coach, or on the field running drills with his position group.

Again, all this assumes that there was a clause in the contract that requires Sam to seek employment elsewhere or forfeit his buyout.  It wouldn't be a shock at all if Jabba the Agent conned Yurachek into leaving this out the way he did aTm with Jimbo.

I actually thought it had been brought out that there is no duty to mitigate, as something Sexton further conned out of Yury. But that's based on my fuzzy memory. It could've been something I dreamt (nightmared).
