So just going by what one or two posters on another board are saying, the money is there.  HY is getting a lot of pushback.  Who knows?

Why can't things ever be simple at Arkansas?  We are every single bit as convoluted as at Auburn or anywhere else but without the wins.

no one really knows. and i'm in no way advocating for yurachek.

if the boosters, the bot, whoever is going to buy the guy out, really wanted him gone, then it wouldn't matter what yurachek thinks. ad's being shown the door for not doing what the money guys wanted. it's not like that's never happened.

yep. that's the point i was trying to make. it's easy to point at one guy and say that's the problem, but there's a lot of moving parts to the deal.

i don't even blame pittman. he is who he is and expecting change is a fool's mission. me personally, i don't think yurachek or the money guys are happy but there seems to be a weird inertia about doing anything about it.

they sacked up and got rid of long and bert, but that led to the worst hire in the program's history which led to a not so worse hire. maybe everyone is a little gun shy, who knows.

I do think there's a bit of truth to that.

In terms of athletic department culture, we seem to be reticent to ever take a chance because of scars from some thing long ago.

We won't fire Sam because we're too traumatized by the Chad Morris era.

How many great coordinators over the years like Kirby Smart did we turn up our nose at throughout the years because of Barnhill's outdated maxim about hiring coordinators (and the Crowe fiasco)?

Nevermind the fact that 5 teams currently in the AP top 10 are coached by guys in their first head coaching job who were hired from a coordinator job somewhere else (Sark doesn't count because he was a HC previously, and Danielson at BSU doesn't count because he was an elevation).

I'm sorry, but there's no ready-made situation for any school aside from Meyer at OSU and Harbaugh at UM. Other than that, everyone took a chance on someone who was unproven as a head coach, be it Lanning at Oregon or Smart at Georgia. You can't just sit around waiting for the perfect candidate to materialize for your school.

We have some good friends who are BMS donors at a pretty high clip (~20-30k a year) and have great seats. They've had them for 10+ years so they've watched a lot of crap football. 

I asked them recently why they do it and they were basically like "it's just something we enjoy doing," like their version of traveling or hunting or other expensive hobbies of the sort.

I admire them, but I've always wondered why people would put that amount of money into something that causes grief and heartache. You spend $10-20k on a great vacation and you have fun and memories. You spend the same money to attend Arkansas football games and you're leaving in a bad mood more often than not.

I have football season tickets with my dad and he is now getting tired of the games. I am not sure if we are renewing or not. I don't want to, but would like access to the Faggie and Shortwhorn games, to say I have been to the stadiums. Should have gone to Kyle field in 2012, but I was too demoralized to go.

Rather spend my money on a nice smoker and just watch the debacles at my parents or tailgate in The Gardens and go home early.

Any coach considering the job's first question is gonna be how much are you getting in NIL and where is it coming from. Next question is what talent is on the roster worth keeping. The more talent the guy has coming in the less possibility there is of a drop off.

To be fair, pre-portal season, 4-8 is a completely realistic scenario for 2025 whether it's Sam, Saban, Mr. Belding, or me.

Bobby's 2008 team was a shit post-Nutt roster and a bunch of freshmen and a brutal schedule but we could all see what was coming. It did take time. But that's the only coach we've had that I've ever felt that way. Post-2008 Bobby, the only game we went into thinking Wyatt Earp "I can't beat him, can I?" was 2011 @ Alabama.

If there is strong intent to move in another direction, it's a lot better doing it at 6-6 than 4-8.
