Is anyone arguing we have top tier talent? Yeah we have a talent issue, but we also have a coaching issue. Why should the fans throw their money at NIL if they don't have any faith in coldbeertits to get the job done?

Thanks.  I just thought since you put us in a definitive spot (15th) you may have seen something I haven't.  Schools are justifiably tight lipped about their budgets.

It's a chicken or egg thing.  If we give Sam more money he MIGHT be marginally better, but if he had come close to getting the most out of the talent he had we might already be giving him a bigger budget.

Another way to look at this...if people hold their contributions now, theoretically they will have more to give once we have a coach they believe would utilize the funds better and give them better ROI.

I have not heard specific numbers but I get a sense Biddy knows as much as anyone.

We do know how our HS compares by rankings and I know rankings aren't a tell all but we are constantly at the bottom. I don't care if you are 30th in the country if 3/4 of the teams you play are in the top 15. You're at a disadvantage.

Do you mot agree that the talent is really used by BP and TWill and not Pittman? Pittman is a hands off coach. Our coordinators are working with these kids 99% of the time. Aren't you really giving them the talent and not Pittman?

To some degree, yes.

You're talking to the wrong guy though. I'm giving what I can, in spite of my dissatisfaction with Pittman.  It's the guys with a few more zeroes at the end of their net worth you need to be addressing.

If that's true then what is Pittman bringing to the table exactly?

Reminds me of how Penn State fans twisted themselves into a pretzel trying to defend JoePa during the Sandusky scandal.

"He shouldn't lose his job! He had no idea about this! He's basically a figurehead coach and isn't really involved!"

Okay great, then he doesn't need to be your football coach anymore.

Either Pittman is involved and we suck, or he's hands off and we suck. Neither are good looks for him or justify him keeping his job.

So does being a hands off coach mean you get to take credit for the good things but blame the bad things on the fans and the players?  That sure seems like where we're going here.

Exactly. It blows my mind that people like Chuck, Bo, and apparently Barton Fink over here have put Pittman in a spot where he doesn't get the blame for anything negative that happens with the football program when he is the fucking head coach.

To your earlier question, both. I don't think we have a coaching problem calling plays (both sides) but I'm sure another HC can bring more than SP.

Only things I see Pittman doing are:
Motivator (probably not the best)
Defer or receive
When to kick/go for it
Calling timeouts
Game interviews

I don't see him involved much at all with in gsme coaching. Some speculate his practices aren't rigorous enough and that very well may be true. That said, I highly doubt you have SP twlling BO how to practice his offense. Same for TWill.

For those that want BP to be HC, this is probably the closest you are ever gonna get.

He's not good at any of this shit. Defer or receive? Game interviews? Who even cares about that stuff? That's why he gets paid the big bucks?

Not at all what I'm saying. At the end of the day the HC is FULLY responsible for wins and losses. He owns responsibility for the players he brings in. He owns responsibility for the coaches he hires. However, he is does not have much impact in actual game play. Like Coach O, etc Those guys are gonna be as good as their coordinators and players.

What else do you think he does? Does he call offensive plays? Defensive schemes? Special teams?

I wonder about his ability to fundraise.  If our NIL is truly that far behind, and if he's really delegating most of the actual coaching, he needs to be busting his ass working the big donors for more money.

Maybe that will get better once he recovers from surgery.  When you're in that kind of pain you don't want to do any more than the bare minimum before you get home and find a way to numb it.

What's sad is that two more wins this year would've likely opened people's checkbooks more for NIL.  Finish the OSU and Missouri or aTm games and a lot of the excitement comes back.

Nothing, man. That's my point. He's not bringing anything to the table. If NIL and buying players is the most important thing now then he sucks at rallying the fanbase to help with that too. We're just waiting until he gets fired at this point.

There was talk on other boards that he overruled some position decisions when Odom was here...namely not letting him play Woodard as much because he was a walk-on.

It seems to me like maybe the opposite in some cases.  I think he gave Fountain too much leeway in deciding who to play...Fletcher over Bauer year before last, Ramsey over Shipley this year, etc.  And I thought we should have played some more people on the OL last year, especially once we were eliminated from bowl eligibility.

I found this information concerning ticket sales, revenue sharing, and NIL.  It's from the NCAA so you know its akrut.

According to this:

Arkansas is 6th in the SEC in annual revenue. Only Alabama, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Texas, and A&M have more annual revenue and some of them aren't that far ahead of us. (Kentucky and Oklahoma)

Arkansas is 10th in the SEC in NIL. Only Kentucky, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Missouri, South Carolina, and likely Vanderbilt are below us.

Arkansas is 3rd in the SEC in ticket sales. Only Texas and A&M raise more money from ticket sales.

Arkansas is likely last in contributions.

Just throwing this info out there.

Ticket Sales, Revenue Sharing, and NIL SEC schools.

Barton Fink

The things around the game I completely get. I'm sure he has had some say in personnel but likely minimal.

My only worry on a coaching change is thst while we may bring in someone that is better at selling the program, practice habits, etc., but we will likely take a dip on the coordinator side (mainly BP). That impacts in game play and we've had several coordinators that have been awful. Of course, guys like Lashlee have a big impact on the game more so than others (SP).

The Whyte Boar

Speaking of hip surgery.  Isn't today signing day?  Isn't this the week you want to be fully engaged to talk to guys hitting the portal and maybe keep some guys here?  What if one of your recruits waffles at the last minute?  Don't you want to talk to him?

Why was it so important to schedule it right after the season?  Schedule it the day after our crappy bowl game.

To me it just like one more example of things being on autopilot up there with Sam not having a whole lot of care or feeling much responsibility for what is going on.
