That Baskerville guy is not innocent in this I'd almost guarantee.  He is that prototypical undersized and scrappy linebacker, former high school QB who is called a "smart" player by many but is borderline dirty.  He would say he is just pushing the envelope to the maximum extent allowed by the rules, but others would say "dirty".  Those guys are frustrating and eventually someone goes to far in retaliation and they then get to play the victim.

It's the same type of guy who is that scrappy white point guard who doesn't really have the talent to play major college ball but is somehow the heart and soul of the team.  You love him if he is on your team and you absolutely despise him if he isn't.

It looks bad but I agree it was likely retaliation for something.

I played center in HS and once punched a guy in the nuts three straight plays. He had tears in his eyes as he left the field.  He eventually came back in and we played pretty clean the rest of the game.

His offense?  He punched me in the nuts a play before.

Dude, it's tough playing inside. You take every advantage and if somebody has been dirty at the bottom of the pile, you get them back at some point in the game. What the referee can't see isn't against the rules.  :D
