I tend to think on the opposite side of that, that we've had a lot of NFL-caliber WRs who have pissed many drops in college then went on to be nothing burgers in the NFL. Out of Joe, Jarius, Childs, and Cobi, only Jarius had one season over 500 yards in the NFL. I don't think Monk ever actually played in a real game. Richard Smith made it, but not sure he did anything, either. Same for Keante Minor. I don't know that we can claim Damian Williams, but he didn't exactly light it up in the big leagues. George Wilson turned into a pro bowl safety. MJ9 is without a doubt our best NFL receiver going back 25 years.

I guess Burks still has time to do something, but he is stuck in purgatory w/ the QB situation he was dealt. He'd rather be hunting or fishing anyway.

According to a post on X by CBS College Basketball insider Jon Rothstein, Boston Celtics Director of Scouting and Maine Celtics GM Remy Cofield is leaving to become the general manager for the Arkansas athletic department. Cofield played a role in putting together the roster in Boston that won the World Championship last season.

The Maine Celtics, is the organization's G League affiliate. He oversees player acquisitions, trades, and staff hires while scouting talent across college, NBA, G League, and international scenes for the Celtics.

Now show me some TEs that he brought in and developed. I'm sure there are some but none immediately come to mind. We're gonna run that Swede or Polish guy as an extra tackle and call it good no matter what with Titties running the show.

He brought in Gragg and converted him from WR to TE. He wasn't bad. Got drafted and played a few years for the Bills.

We had a good run of TEs w/ DJ, Gragg, Henry, Derby, and Sprinkle all getting drafted. O'Grady could've been next but had all the off-the-field stuff. Then little Henry didn't pan out. I guess Franks is still around somewhere in the league.

Yes. Of course it was said after the fact. I think Alabama was his other front-runner but they also signed OJ Howard that same year I believe so not sure how that would have worked out. I think they were #1/2 in the country.

Lifelong friends w/ one of DJ's mentors thru junior high and high school and beyond. And I think I shared this back on the old board when it happened, but anyway after the 2009 season DJ went to Petrino and had him set up a 3-way meeting w/ 15. DJ had gotten a lot of balls from Dick (yeah, I heard it) in 2008. Not so much when 15 came on the scene in 2009. Ryan wanted to throw it all over the yard and hit dingers. DJ was somewhat left out in that. DJ wanted BP to convince 15 where his bread was buttered. 45 & 15 never saw eye to eye on much, but when Petrino pushed it, they made it work. Thus, the 2010 Mackey season.

That ain't no shit, neither. I was on the front row right behind our bench on the 45 in Athens that day. That all unfolded right in front of me. What a day. Hot as bf'n hell, but what a day. That walk back up the hill from Sanford Stadium was rough, but maybe my favorite game in attendance other than '99 Tennessee.
