In the next five years a major college athletic department will default on a debt...state taxpayers are gonna love picking up the note.

It looks like OM ran a $7.7MM deficit in 2024.  That was the last year of the old media rights payments though.  The revenue should increase by between $20MM and $30MM in 2025 from media alone.  Adding the 9th conference game will further boost that beginning next year. 

The revenue sharing should eat up the first $20MM.  It will be interesting to see if they run a deficit again this year.  It will likely depend on whether the media rights are on the high side or the low side of the estimate. 

If a department is going to default, it would please me to see it be Ole Miss.

If Nutt was our AD (and God help us if he is), we certainly wouldn't hire Gus but I could see us hiring Lashlee.

Lashlee is a Gus disciple, yes, but he played under Nutt, and he was a fall guy for Gus at Auburn when things started going south. He "left voluntarily" for...UConn.

Of course, Lashlee could also be the latest in a long line of former Arkansas guys who ended up hating the shit out of the university for one reason or another. That seems to be commonplace.

You're right.  We absolutely cannot fire both Hunter and Sam at the same time.  That guarantees at least one and likely two bad hires.  I'd prefer to send Hunter packing and bring Sam back for one more year if we have a choice.  Unless the plan is to party like it's 2010-11 again, we're going to be competing with a glut of comparable or better jobs if we fire Sam after this year. 

The time to fire Sam was after last season, when we would have been one of the top 1-2 jobs available. 

Ditto, except I would add that there was a reason few top jobs were available. There was much (and still is) uncertainty how the revenue sharing model would like.
