Apparently retarded member of the "fucking old people" crowd as defined by Swahili Steve.

Missouir's last 15 home games:

Umass (0-4 so far)
South Carolina (3-2 so far)
Louisiana (2-3 so far)
Kansas (3-2 so far)
Central Arkansas (1-3 so far)
Arkansas (7-6, 3-5 SEC, Liberty Bowl Champs!)
Oklahoma (6-7, 2-6 SEC)
Auburn (5-7, 2-6 SEC)
Vanderbilt (7-6, 3-5 SEC)
Boston College (7-6, 4-4 ACC)
Buffalo (9-4, 6-2 MAC)
Murray State (1-11, 0-8 MVFC)
Florida (5-7, 3-5 SEC)
Tenneessee (9-4, 4-4 SEC)
South Carolina (5-7, 3-5 SEC)

I'm not trying to throw stones but it does feel like Mizzou has had an easier home slate.  They seem to have come into the conference at a time when the East was way down and they have struggled beating the Alabamas and Georgias of the conference.  Edit: nothing wrong with that either.  Obviously I'd take their success in a hearbeat.  I don't think they have the program they think they have though.

The comparably have a baby shit soft schedule most years.

We just got done playing are first legit home stadium game on the season and it's nearly the end of Sept. And won't be back for a few weeks. Arkansas' schedule is partly it's own worst enemy having games in Dallas and LR...at least now that shit is going to stop after this season. But we'll still manage to get fucked somehow.
"I got fired for using free speech" yea imagine getting killed over it

and they won't play a road game until 10/18.

"Obviously a failure to get the team to buy in for seven games with an open week to prepare is a pretty good indicator that Petrino is not a good candidate for the job beyond 2025, so that will work itself out."

I simply disagree with this statement.  This is a hard task of any coach.  You could take any coach you want and stick them in this spot and they may not be able to get the team to bounce back.  These last 7 games in no way tell us anything about if BP is a good candidate or not.

I think 2 or 3 wins plus competitive in some other games will really get some people's attention.

Petrino isn't going to win a popularity contest with the players...in the long haul you have a lot of his former players that love the guy but on the front end I bet a lot of those guys didn't much care for him. Guys really buy in with him once they begin to see that the guy knows what he's doing.

Undoubtedly Petrino isn't going to get the credit he deserves but it would be real easy with this bunch of losers to say nah I'm good I'm going to the house. Instead he's laying his reputation on the line for a school that shit on him.

"It's really cool that he's had the opportunity to finish this redemptive arc. He came back to the place where he was fired in disgrace and has been able to at least partly redeem himself, producing good offenses and now taking over the program for a couple months. But although the shrieking of national media (Wolken here, Pat Forde here) is probably a little bit dramatic, the underlying argument is absolutely true: you have to really be blinded by highlights of the 2010 and 2011 teams to think that Petrino is a better option than Lashlee or Sumrall (and probably even more coaches)."

I do agree with this.  I fall into this trap.

BleedinRed

Adam ends his article with Dan Mullen, Barry Odom, Ryan Silverfield, Eric Morris, and a few others.  I mean, give me a break.  It will be Lashlee or Sumrall and when they balk we will hand the keys to BP.

BleedinRed

I guess the nice thing is BP is a solid 2-3 year guy to take a chance on.  So no matter what happens in the search we have that going for us.

vegashog

everyone has their favorite, but to say his performance over the next nine weeks shouldn't matter makes no sense to me. he chose the task and if it's really an impossible one, then maybe he should have stuck in the oc role. he obviously thinks he can produce results.

listening to the presser and other comments, there's going to be a few guys getting serious consideration.

HOGSRUNWILD

IF he is the man for the job, they will look much better.  If we win a lot of the remaining games is yet to be determined but they WILL look a lot better if he is the guy.

You remember 2008/2009.  We didn't win much in 2008 but you could see where things were going and in 2009, we won a decent amount but you KNEW where things were going and KNEW we were about to start punching people in the asshole.  Then 2010/2011 came and we DID punch people in the asshole.

If the remainder of 2025 looks like late 2008/2009, I'll be fully satisfied with having him going forward.

This.

I do think Bobby will get real consideration IF (big IF) he can turn a lot around.  That said, in the presser it sure seemed to me, the way HY was talking, that BP is more of a dark horse or back up option should the search come up dry.  Just a feel, based on how he kept saying the next coach and they and such it kind of struck me as not inclusive of Bobby.

I also can't really disagree with much that Adam wrote in the Fayvillians piece.

HOGSRUNWILD

If he turns things around and things are looking much better by the end of the year and they hire someone else, that hire better work out...for their sake.

Like someone else posted here, I'd love to have a few years just to get beyond the "what if's" we've held onto since 2011.  I'm just not sure it's in the cards.  I love BMFP and miss those days.  However, it's entirely possible that his reputation will kill off the staff interest, and that money won't back him.  We need the money.

that seemed to be the vibe.

tennessee and aggie might be a little too soon, but if he can get his and the teams legs under him, auburn, miss st., and beating those fucks from columbia should get him the job.

It's hard to put the toothpaste back in the tube though...once you've quit it's going to be difficult to get these guys up for any of these games. Petrino's first approach will be to remind the guys that do have some aspirations of either playing more college ball or pro ball they probably ought to start acting like professionals and not a bunch of candy asses that just came to get paid.

Then we start looking hard at how and why we suck so bad and look at ways to fix it scheme wise and probably also find some guys that want to play football.

Every game is on tape. Do you want to put a bunch of tape out there showing you loafing?
That is the first thing you say to any player who thinks he can play at the next level.
Oak Grove in the house.

Nap basically said this during the presser.
