I've been a huge BP supporter since December 11th, 2007. I remember the exact second. We had finally gotten rid of Dale, then whiffed on even fucking Grobe, Bowden, etc. It was dark.

Then, lightning in a bottle. Bobby, probably the best HS recruiting class in the history of Arkansas, and one of the best arms in the history of the universe that just wanted to come home and play football. I get that a lot of things came together at that exact moment that ended up making those 2010-11 seasons historic for us. I also get that he's not the best recruiter and he's 64 now.

Guess what, motherfuckers? None of that matters any more. It's NIL brunch the morning after.

Give him the keys, give him the money to buy the mercenaries, give him everything. Bobby has forgotten more ball than any of these 40-something up & comers will ever know.

You want to "build a program"? Go fuck yourself, Nancy. I, nor you, have to like the current landscape of college athletics. But it is what it is.

Give him the money to work with. Give him the 4-5 years. We could be in the CFP "talks"...or maybe at least mentioned on Gameday...next year. The program will breathe life again.

I fear that they are hanging him out to dry, but this is our best option to win now...which is all that matters anymore.

Just win, baby.
Pants ironed and back for more

I mean seriously who the fuck are these idiots?  Is there one single person who doubts that BP with close to equal talent has an edge on 95 percent or more of the coaches in football?  You know the answer.  Petrino is a matchup nightmare for anyone and can flat out coach football.

If he is supported with sufficient money to get the talent on hand, he will produce results.  Period.  End of story.  Give Petrino 3 years and you're going to have one nine win season or better.

I'm as big a fan of Petrino as anyone here but I can pretty well see that the guy is getting schemed by fucking Memphis and Notre Dame. Now some of this comes back to the QB has to make better decisions a lot of times the play is there to be made and we just aren't making them. We do seem to abandon the run way too quickly which has been a hallmark of Petrino for the last several years.

I bet we go to a lot more two te looks or using that fullback and get some conventional run game out of that. I'm not sure Petrino is really known for that look but that seems to be some of what we were leaning toward given our personnel.

no one knows how petrino will do, he'll get his chance finishing out the season.

and to call other people idiots well, when was that bp speech again?

Quote from: vegashog on Sep 29, 2025, 04:14 PMeveryone has their favorite, but to say his performance over the next nine weeks shouldn't matter makes no sense to me. he chose the task and if it's really an impossible one, then maybe he should have stuck in the oc role. he obviously thinks he can produce results.

listening to the presser and other comments, there's going to be a few guys getting serious consideration.

I don't think anyone has said that.  HY said he was looking to see effort which has been missing since the Memphis game.  The message board people are the ones putting arbitrary win totals out there.  HY explicitly said wins and losses are not what he is looking at for the rest of the season.

Actually we do know how Petrino will do.  He is a winner.  He has a track record. Anyone who disagrees is an idiot.

BleedinRed

I'd roll with BP over any of the names being thrown out.  That is 100% fo sho.

Unless it's the second half.

Yes, he's a winner.  No one disagrees there.  Can he win with this group (that quit) this year?  That will take some serious miracle work. Give him the $$ to hire the mercs and assistants that normally wouldn't consider working for Bobby??  The sky is the fucking limit.  I just don't know that our donors and PTB have the will or want to do it.

he's 54-42 since leaving arkansas. technically yes, that's a winner but if anyone else was being considered with that record, you wouldn't be saying the same thing about them.

he'll get his chance to prove he still has it.

Well, the difference with BP over Sam and just about anybody I've seen mentioned is that everyone KNOWS that with talent he will produce.  No ifs, ands, or buts...he will produce.  It's kind of like the players that used to hate his guts but knew that if they did exactly what he said how he said, they would score.

Money has been tight because no one had faith in Sam.  Money will be more forthcoming because they know results will follow.

yeah, the comments are worth a read.

If he wants the job next year, he'll bench Green and go with Jackson. Eat the idiotic 2.1mm and start finding those wide open receivers in stride.

As far as effort, if you're scared of someone you'll play harder than these punks have. Having coaches with something to prove and a don't give a shit attitude may work wonders for their effort.

From that Fayette Villains article...

On the record: this is a really dumb idea and should not be seriously considered. Gruden last coached college in 1989, when he was the tight ends coach at Pacific. He hasn't coached at all since 2021, when the Raiders fired him. Yes, he won a Super Bowl, but overall he was a fairly mediocre NFL coach, posting a 117-112 career record.

I think his name gets mentioned because people see a guy on the TV saying smart-sounding things, point at the guy on the TV, and say "I want the guy on the TV.'"

Put me down as a no to Gruden.

Show-Me Hog

Yeah I don't understand the Gruden thing at all. It doesn't translate. Petrino and Saban didn't make it in the NFL. Belichik is doing awful at UNC.

#8477
green won't be here next year. he's out of eligibility.

and i agree about gruden, his ego is bigger than his coaching abilities. plus he considers himself an offensive genius so any oc he hires would be just a clip holder.

i don't see petrino staying on as a coordinator if he really wants to be a hc again and doesn't get the job here.

piglosopher

Gruden could have had his pick many a premium jobs over the years, so yeah I agree his ego likes being courted. The record doesn't merit it.

This right here. People only drool over him because they've seen him on TV.
