Quote from: Loma on Oct 02, 2025, 02:15 PMI can only imagine what Petrino was thinking when we were on defense or when he was watching film on our defense.

If there is truth to the rumor that he and TWill almost came to blows, it very well may have had something to do with Bobby telling him his defense sucked ass.

"STFU you're not my boss" and Sam doesn't have the personality or hand to mediate that shit. Or, it appears, to tell the defense what to do.

He certainly did not.  Certainly would explain a lot of the locker room culture issues which contributed to players leaving (supposedly).

Quote from: HTL on Oct 02, 2025, 10:27 AMI don't really understand the Sam hate. We never should've had to fall down the pecking order that far to someone like him. Our salaries budget was bottom of the barrel and NIL budget for defense was nonexistent in this brutal conference.

He served a purpose and then should have left after three seasons.  Totally inept, morally bankrupt,  lying sack of shit.  Did zero coaching last three years.  So he's on my scale of hate. Right up there with with Hootie, Chad, and Duddy Waller.

Morally bankrupt is an extreme stretch.

I'm sure that Sam, Hootie, hell maybe even Duddy Waller would be dudes you could could have a beer with and shoot the shit. I don't hate them...I just don't want them coaching my team.

Agreed. Morally corrupt is more precise.

Laughable. What an insane thing to say.

I actually agree with you.  There is nothing morally bad about Pittman.  He was simply a guy who thought he could get the job done.

Agreed.  He's not the super nice guy some portray him as, or he wouldn't have shitcanned the agent who helped him get a job, but he's also not a scumbag.  He seems like a decent guy who's not good at his job.  There are lots of people who fit that bill, including probably some of us on here.

I wouldn't have a problem with him except for two things.  He talked a lot of shit when he got here that he didn't actually do when it came to leaving.  And then I personally believe he pretty much quit on the job once he knew he was going to be fired.

Not huge failings.  Lots of people have done it, but irritating nonetheless and it will be awhile before I feel warm and fuzzy about him.

That was probably more a matter of just not being all that bright.  In other words, not realizing that those words would be held against him when things inevitably went downhill.

What's insane is your "I don't get why he's so hated," take. It's the same "fine Christian man" bullshit fans said about Houston.
Sam said "you won't have to fire me," then proceeded to fleece the university for millions while delivering subpar results, and got a multi-million dollar bonus when he finally got fired mid-season for those results.
Hates a strong word and it's a game, so I don't hate him, but I understand people's disdain for him.

He agreed to a reduced buyout when he didn't have to. How exactly did he fleece the university? He wasn't highly paid compared to most. Fucking Kansas pays their coach more. Bizarre energy. I guess he should've just turned the job down.

Oh no.  Whatever would we have done?

We went from negotiating with Kiffin to hiring someone literally nobody else in the country would have hired.

None of that makes Pittman a POS which is what is being discussed.  This board has lost its mind on the guy.

He agreed to a reduced buyout because he didn't want to have to continue to look for work. He didn't do it because he was a nice guy. You've been saying that he and his wife have wanted out for over a year. He has been unburdened.
The Lord wants you to put your foot on their balls and believe in it. 'Cuz that's what wins football games. Not jumping offsides like a bunch of wimps and faggots. I don't care what those pinkos over in Russia say. You want to be a loser? You go live in Russia. I'm a winner. I'm an American.

And then when he saw he couldn't do the job he was hired to do, instead of quitting, signed on for an extension and more money, all while knowing there was no way he could fulfill the requirements of the job.

I mean, sure, It makes the AD that offered the deal retarded.  It makes the person that accepts it knowing they can't fulfill the requirements a shitty, morally bankrupt person.
