Quote from: Barton Fink on Dec 07, 2025, 10:31 AMFaie point. I've said several times I hate it. It's not fair to have fans pay for players, but it is a choice.

That said, it's the first time since we've been in the SEC that there is an option to overcome the talent disadvantage we have. We will either choose to or not. If not, don't complain when we continue to be a 5-6 win program. You get what you pay for.

You're not wrong but it sounds like Tech has a handful of billionaires funding all of this. It's not some grassroots bullshit that we keep hearing about if everyone in our shitty fanbase would just chip in $10/month. They're desperate to win and their ultra rich made it happen. Ours have not to date aside from JT with basketball. It is what it is and you don't hear me bitching about 6 wins. My expectations are insanely low but we should be better than BLS going 2-10.
The Lord wants you to put your foot on their balls and believe in it. 'Cuz that's what wins football games. Not jumping offsides like a bunch of wimps and faggots. I don't care what those pinkos over in Russia say. You want to be a loser? You go live in Russia. I'm a winner. I'm an American.

FITTY!!

AporkalypseNow

I see teams like Vandy, Ole Miss, Indiana, Texas Tech etc incredibly relevant and all took different paths...

In the end NIL isn't favoring the "haves" over "have nots" as much as everyone said it would at this point

IT is frustrating in a one school state chock full of billionaires nobody can make NIL work for Arkansas the way this guy has (Tyson and Cal exempted, nobody can accuse the Tysons of not doing their part)

Talent evaluation and coaching matter. - look at Indiana

That Sam thought this defense would be good speaks volumes about the talent evaluation in the smith center

Exactly. It's not simply about having "better" players, on some computer nerds' formulaic ranking system.

Go back and read some tea leafs and smell some farts. When Sam hired Travis Williams and Marcus Woodson as co-DCs the wheels pretty much fell off the wagon in terms of recruiting. Might not have been anything to do with them but we've really missed on some guys over the last couple years in addition to outright tampering of what little talent we did have (Greg Brooks Jr., Joe Fouche, among some others)...this program was afflicted with absolutely dumbasstery.

Did someone say we paid Selmon Bridges a lot of money to not piss any drops in preference to the kid that played pretty decent last year...not even going to pretend to know who that is.

"I got fired for using free speech" yea imagine getting killed over it

That is the fault of our cultured fanbase that demands museums rather than football teams.

I guess having billionaires buy their serfs sports teams is better than having them wage war with each other using their peasants.
Splash 11! drop ABE track, too confusing

Barton Fink

No, but I'd like my chances better if I had comparable talent. We'll see if Vandy and IU can sustain success. They pretty much caught lightning in a bottle. Believe it or not, that's extremely hard to do. People laughed at Lea when he said Vandy would compete for a National title.

I don't recall razorbacks demanding a museum.

Would I like it if the Walton's threw a few million of couch money at the razorbacks? Sure, but I can't tell them how to spend their money nor can they tell me how to spend mine.

Not sure why the national media think it is an automatic that Walmart or the Waltons funnel money to the hogs.

Coach Broyles could raise money but you know why Long and now Yurachek can't? They don't try to establish relationships with the money people, instead they only talk to them when they need money and then wonder why they get turned down.

Again, what is the plan the AD is presenting to the chancellor to improve the football program and where has it been the past 8 years?

Not sure if I had 1/4 of the Walton money I would want to give the current athletic administration any money either.

I was being sarcastic.  The younger Waltons give to please the givers rather than the plebes.

gotcha.

they have kinda disappeared since covid - did they move out of state?

their development downtown springdale via ropeswing (?) has been rather quiet that last 2 years.

Downtown Springdale is taking off big time.   Waltons are behind the new five story boutique hotel and two more residential projects happening there now.

As for the Waltons and Walmart,  the national perception and assumption is already there.  People assume we "have all that Walton money".

They might as well.

Alice, Jim and Rob are worth a combined $330 Billion now.   I'm sure Tom are Steuart and minor billionaires now,  too.

$15 million from The Family is nothing.

How will we ever make up for his single rushing TD?

For $7 mil I'll put a webcam in front of my shitter so I can answer fan questions while I drop the Longhorns off in College Station.

I think that was expected due to the change in blocking schemes.

With a few exceptions, the more players we lose the better we will be.

Maybe 3 OL coaches could have convinced him to stay.

vegashog

it was the coaches that convinced him to leave.

for all the hype, he didn't play that much and wasn't going to in the offense being brought in.

Loma

None of our players made the 3rd team All- SEC team.
