I always assumed BleedinRed was setting that standard to justify firing Sam when he fell short of it as he so obviously would have.  There is no way he or anyone else could have seriously looked at that schedule, that roster and, more importantly, the guy in charge of it and seen a ten win team.

I did beleive it.  I make no apologies for it and have admitted many times, which is very rare for this board, that I was completely wrong.

Alabama A&M, AK State, Ole Miss, Memphis, Auburn, MS State, Missouri were all winnable games.  I figured LSU and TN were winable too.  Ole Miss was breaking in an unproven QB.  We almost beat them.  Had a shot at beating A&M too.  I was leaning on law of averages finally bouncing our way.  We have had Texas number too.  You can easily get to 8 wins and 10 wasn't out of the question.  I severly discounted PIttman having done nothing over the summer to prepare the team.  He had shown he can put together a team that wins 9 games.  In the preseason football thread I went through the position groups.  There was enough there to think we could be pretty good.

We had enough talent in play calling if the execution had been better we probably at least get to turn down a bowl game. Overall depth was a huge issue and overall give-a-fuk in the defense seemed to be at an all time low. Guys like Sorey really regressed. I'd be really curious to know what was paid to these kids to suck that bad.

Just understand that with money you too can be a champion in short order with a small token of your support to the Arkansas Edge...whatever we're calling it this week NIL fund.
