I saw that about the dback that left over the weekend. Sometimes you wiff and sometimes you are grasping at straws. The guy played in 48 collegiate games over five years while starting half of them. He had 100 tackles and two interceptions in that half decade of college football. This has the looks of a warm body pick up and he recognized it pretty quickly.

Crappy couple of months for the program

Keith and I became classmates in 5th grade when I moved into his town.  We sat next to each other in a ton of classes for the years I was there.  He came and spent weekends with me and my family after I moved in 10th grade.  We played ball together and did stupid stuff that all pre teens and teens do.

He was a fantastic guy.  Adult things always kept us too busy to complete the ideas we had to get the gang together again the last few years.   Another classmate passed a few months ago and again we said let's start getting everyone to a restaurant to see each other.  And Again it didn't happen.  Don't let that happen, folks.  Touch base with people when you can.

Y'all pray and send mojo or whatever you beleive in doing, for Julie and his kids and grandkids.  It is a man sized hole that is left in their lives.

Watched Josh Pate's preview of Arkansas this year, and he's basically in the same head space the rest of us are.

- OL (specifically the tackles) is a question mark and could be a weakness.
- WR is a virtual unknown, though Teslaa could be a sleeper
- DL is a team strength
- secondary quite literally can't be worse than 2022
- KJ is the best returning starter in the SEC
- RB is our best and deepest position group on the team
- we got fucked by the SEC on our schedule, and that 4 game stretch is unconscionable

He didn't give a record prediction, but basically said we could be markedly better this season but have a similar-ish record to last year. The pathway to 8-4 is pretty clear —- win all the OOC games and beat Florida, Mizzou, Auburn, and State (3 of which are at home).

Too early to tell if it equates to wins or if it'll be his best team, I do think this is Pittman's best roster to date, top to bottom.

Just going by my own eyes looking at the roster on paper over the years I'm seeing what looks like a lot more depth at DL than we've seen in a very long time. I haven't had much time to really follow the daily reports but I assume getting Carter back this season is huge. Sanders is supposedly added a lot of weight. Gregory is still on the roster. Davillier played in a lot of action last season. Ball is a big space eater. Morgan III supposed to help coming over from Pitt. Jeffcoat coming over from Mizzou will probably start. Booker Jr. comes over from Maryland could also start. He's a big fella. Looking at the size of some of these dudes it's no wonder our OL has been getting pwned.

OL is anchored by veterans Latham and Limmer. The rest are mainly unknowns. Braun coming over from Florida looks to probably take Luke Jones' place in terms of talent and potential serviceability and that's probably not saying much. I assume Crawford will play and again this is a cat that's older but hasn't exactly blown anyone away. I assume Harris and Wells may be stepping up. Others that could see action are Wiggins, Manuel, and Kutas. I believe Wiggins is looked at as a center prospect. Su'a, Chamblee, and Street are probably special teams guys but a lot of these young guys came in highly regarded prospects. We always just seem to be 2 years away.


Secondary: I agree it surely can't be worse. I know the coaches have been giving coach speak answers like "we didn't communicate last season". Gotta communicate. I mean I know that's probably true but anyone with eyes last season could see our most vocal defensive back was also probably our worst defensive back. He was the leader in the defensive backfield and nobody listened to him evidently...that's what I'm getting out of that. I refer to Blair of course. I can remember lot of pointing and arms flapping around trying to get people lined up right, guys barking at each other. And then we get torched. At some point Odom's defense went from being not too shabby to downright awful at a time when it should have been getting better. Not having your "star" safety 2 years in a row didn't help matters. Now we have no stars but maybe a better overall unit. Or not. We'll see

LB: I feel pretty good about this young group. Nobody is talking about this position group at all...in this new scheme I figure they'll be smaller speedy guys at linebacker. Maybe not.


WR: Again not a lot of known stars but I think we'll see some guys emerge. Satega is supposedly coming on. That white kid looks good. The Armstrong guy has looked good. For most of these guys until they go against legit SEC DBs in real competition you aren't going to know who's going to piss down their legs and who's going to step up and go get it.


RB: deep backfield...if our line can open holes we'll be just fine. Usually a younger line is better at run blocking than they are pass pro so I won't be shocked if we nurse it a long where KJ is handing it off in the early season and doing some play action rips to these fast dudes. If we are healthy this season at this position group I don't know that there is a deeper group in the country. Sanders, Green, Johnson, Dubinion, Augustive...that's some damn depth.

QB: We know what we have with KJ. Singleton is supposedly looking like a capable future starter. The key to this season is going to be keeping KJ healthy. That means putting shit teams away early so we can play young guys and having a coach that has sense enough to pull him.

Punter: I think we've recruited well to this position of late but haven't heard one damn thing about it good or bad. A great punter is key to offense that may be struggling to find itself early in the season.



I don't necessarily see this team as a sure-fire 8 or 9 win team mainly because of the schedule. Too many unknowns in very principal locations such as the Offensive Line and WR. That's a recipe for interceptions especially with a older QB trying to prove every throw he's a NFL arm. I do like that Enos is back and can help craft Jefferson into having his best most efficient season. Pittman's entire thing is supposed to be about building from the inside out just like Bert. Bert failed at it. Pittman's team looks young but well recruited on paper but that doesn't automatically mean we win. After studying the roster more closely I do concur this DL looks pretty salty so that has me excited. I liked what I saw last season out of Paul, Crooks, and Powell. If the secondary can even be average I think the defense can be pretty dang decent. I think the OL will "gel" as the season goes. We'll see who steps up with the lights on. I see this team controlling the LOS and eating clock...possession receivers like Wilson and Stephens could shine in this offense. That's kinda my thing right now trying to figure out who's going to be our Drew Morgan on this team for Enos. I know this offense may not be what he ran under Bert but I figure it will be a slight departure from the Nintendo shit we've been seeing.
