I just watched a Gotti documentary on Netflix.  All of the mafia families are involved in this stuff.  Agree with whoever said they (players/coaches) make enough money to not get engaged in this shit.

The problem is that the more money you have the higher the level you have to bet to get the thrill of gambling.  If losing doesn't hurt it doesn't move the needle for the true degenerate gambler. 

I haven't read about this yet, but I suspect (and know from past point shaving incidents) that they were acting more to get themselves out of debt from other betting rather than to try to make the quick buck on a parlay.
