Game one prediction thread will be last Wednesday of August. Overall season prediction pole will be the Wednesday before that.

Almost there. We're still in the "who broke their foot in practice today" phase of the preseason.

That looks like a junior high pep squad. Not exactly Oregon or TCU or UCLA.

My Western Carolina story:

My dad grew up in Waynesville, NC, just north of the Sylva/Cullowhee metroplex.
I have been all over that beautiful area hiking and fishing over the years as we made at least a yearly trip there.

My house near UAMS on Capitol was broken into, and several things were stolen.  A month later, it was broken into again. I guess they thought we had replaced the stereo and TV they stole (we hadn't, as we were med students in the middle of finals and didn't need them anyway).  They stole clothes and hats during that break-in.  After the second break-in, the LR police caught the guy entering another nearby house.  I was asked to come to the station to fill out some forms and potentially ID the suspect.  The officer showed me a mugshot of the guy and asked if I'd seen him around the neighborhood.  I said no, but he's wearing my Western Carolina sweatshirt....
Not too many brothas in LR wearing Catamounts gear.
The cop went to the jail, took it off him, and returned it to me.  It stank to high heaven.  I threw it in the trash on my way out of the station.

My wife has identified Waynesville as one of the potential retirement towns.

Apologies for derailing the thread (I'm gonna do it anyway) but how did your dad end up in Arkansas, if you don't mind sharing?

Weird seeing those jerseys with those pants. That was 2005, I believe, before we switched to the double stripe.

I loved Felix Jones.   Probably as much as I loved McFadden.

Got out of the army after WW2 at Camp Robinson and didn't want to go back to Western NC and grow apples or tobacco like most of his family.   (We visited every year around the holidays and sometimes twice a year when he took us to Carolina Beach in the summer )

He stayed here and finished school at LR JC on the GI Bill (eventually was UALR)  He eventually worked as a trooper for Ark State Police (appointed by the Govenor back in those days) around Hot Springs before opening a nursery and landscaping business in NLR that lasted 35 years.

He retired back in Waynesville   I was in residency at Emory in Atlanta then and spent a bunch of weekends up in those mountains.
He eventually moved back to NLR when his health started to decline.
He passed away 12 years ago but had some great stories.

Beautiful area. Fantastic climate.
The only drawback is the ever spreading peoples republic of Asheville is 20 miles away. Haywood County is definitely not Asheville politically.

Thought it was probably military but figured Air Force/Jacksonville rather than Army.

I live in the Sand Hills region of NC now but the NW area of the state is gorgeous and a lot of the mountainous parts haven't changed much since the Revolutionary War.
