The problem is the head coach is the be all and end all for your success but most are interchangeable and can get you up to even in a few years if they have any idea what they are doing but the ones that can get you to a few years of 9 or 10 wins are scarce relative to how many jobs there are.  We haven't really found one for 30 years except for one who cannot stay one place more than a few years.  That might be the best we can aspire to.
Splash 11! drop ABE track, too confusing

That was one of our more athletic <insert fro here> offensive lineman so sure it's a loss.

LSU postmortem is up.

https://www.fayvillains.com/2023/09/24/the-day-after-week-4-2/

Cliff notes:
- we made some adjustments from the BYU loss including moving the pocket, more of the fake draws to freeze the rush, and some personnel changes at WR and OL
- they went with Dubinion more because he's better at breaking tackles and YAC (which we saw last night)
- it takes the Enos offense a while to get going, and it looks like we might be catching a groove
- defense got torched in the last 31 minutes but Daniels is probably the best QB we'll face
- Pittman likely cost us the game with poor game management
- we should've let them score on the last drive
- SEC is down and wide open this year
- Adam Ford might be out on Pittman

flash23

The SEC being down is what makes this year more of a bummer. There's no reason why we shouldn't have back to back 10+ win years after the season is over, but in typical Arkansas fashion, we're just a little bit worse than everyone else.

kelly said in his presser that the rb was going to take a knee if we tried to let them score. said the pass out of the endzone was to stop the clock because they were out of time outs.

I have it on good authority you don't do that in football.

Son of Spam

Letting them score doesn't mean they would have. Hell, the QB could have just stood there. Even if we moved out of the way, they could have said a big FU and not scored.
Well, shit...

exactly. kelly even said so. they wanted the clock to run and kick a fg because he didn't want jefferson to get the ball back.

so this guy either didn't listen to his presser before he wrote the article, or he just wanted to repeat the same shit other fans are bitching about.

Before fellating Kelly and his game management tactics too much, let's consider the sequence.

That third down play took a whopping three seconds off the clock. It would have been much smarter to run a third down play with the clock moving and see if the last timeout is even needed.  Plus, you'd have the luxury of getting the ball to the center of the field and taking the clock down as low as you want. Burning it after second down left the possibility of a botched snap on third down and no time to set up for a field goal.

And the knee tactic relies on a player with his eyes on daylight and the glory of a "winning" score remembering the plan, against a defense willing to help him forward if needed.

I don't necessarily get that vibe, but he's critical of Pittman's game management which hasn't improved much in his 4th year.

BleedinRed

No way LSU doesn't score on either 1st or 2nd down if Arkansas had let them.  I highly doubt they wouldn't have pounded it in on 3rd too but by then the damage was done.  There was less than a minute left on the clock.

We were having this same argument in my house in real time.

Agree, the time to try to turn them loose was when there were 2+ minutes left and they were inside our red zone.  Once the clock got under a minute it was probably best to play it out and hope for a miracle given that we had blown all our timeouts.
Perish peacefully in a warm environment.

They had 1st and Goal from the 7 at 1:44. They actually got there at 2:32 but of course we couldn't stop the clock. The first play was the one to let them in, when they were least expecting it and I would heavily wager weren't told to knee it then.

I know it's unconventional, but the other team with the lead, the ball that close to the end zone, an accurate kicker, and all three timeouts means it's desperation time.

I don't know about me being any authority, but I can tell you that it's an almost fireable offense, and for lack of better terms, retarded.

BleedinRed

Everyone should take comfort that on a Sunday afternoon after yet another loss we are debating whether at the end of said loss the opponent should have been allowed to score.

We must admit that this is at least a new topic after a loss.   ;D

So Bill Belichick must be fired or retarded because he called for it in the Super Bowl, with his team AHEAD.

ONCE AGAIN show me where it has fucking worked. Where? When? It's never fucking worked. Plenty of fucked up snaps, kicks, interceptions, and fumbles.
