Southern people are more accustomed to creature comforts for starters but it's mainly probably about the event draw in the southern half of the united states tends to make it worth while.


 There are certainly stadiums in the north that have domes. I can't recall if Minnesota went back with a dome but I think so. Detroit has one. Indy and Carrier Dome (Syracuse) which is why there are big events in those domes. Don't know that Vegas counts in this discussion but it too is a dome maybe has a slide roof on it not sure.

Buffalo, GB, Chicago, NYG, NYJ, Philly, Pittsburgh, KC, Cincy, Cleveland, Denver, Seattle are all open air stadiums. Probably missing someone

The locals in most of those stadium carry it as a badge of honor though. It's something you can sit back on the couch and tell people "yeah I froze ma balls off in that stadium once"

I'll also guess that Luxury box fad of the late 90s into the 2000s has had a impact. Since that's become a big thing the push for climate controlled stadiums has been reduced. The rich fucks don't give a damn if the plebs freeze their mantits off.
