Where are you putting the blame on Jerry?  His coach as delivered 36 wins in 3 seasons.  He doesn't manage scouting but Stephen and will McClay have drafted as good as any team in the league the past five years.

The players play the games.  Dak shits the bed in playoff games.  Parsons is physically done by Thanksgiving.  CeeDee is great but the rest of the receivers are quiet.  It is a weak spined team.  Does it come from the coddling by Jerry providing them the Star?  Could be. 

Jerry spends every dime he can.  Their cap is loaded with dead money from Zeke and bad restructures like Dak. I think Jerry is trying to use 24 to clean the slate of bad contract rollovers and void years. (If Dak goes he'll have a roll up of void years thru 28 that will be a $40m dead cap hit in 25). I would have traded CeeDee, traded Micah parsons, and let Dak go after his usual wildcard loss. 

Fat mike is gone after this season unless he wins big.  Zimmer is on a one year deal.  No QBs under contract for 25.  It's kinda fucked up.  Jerry has a plan but per usual it will blow up in his face.

The reason I call McCarthy fat Nutt is this.  It is his responsibility to motivate the players to be ready, to give them a game plan that puts them in the best position to succeed.  He fails at that relative to the team's talent level far more than any other coach in the league.   Yeah, his overall record is decent, but like Nutt it's littered with losses that should not have happened.   

It was obvious in the playoff game against Green Bay last year that a) the game plan was shit and b) that the players heads were up their asses.  Clearly they're pros and in theory they should be self-motivated enough to handle business without a premier coach, but history has shown that usually isn't the case.   

Regarding Jerry, I blame him because he continues to let underperforming coaches stay around until their contracts run out.  He did it with Garrett, really even with Wade Phillips, and he's done it with McCarthy.  I assume he's being cheap in this regard, or buying into the Jimmies and Joes fallacy.  Either way it continually holds back the team from reaching its potential.  I do give him credit for finally getting mostly out of the way to let McClay do his job.

I think in the NFL and the evidence certainly suggests this over the last 5 years or so. You either need a truly special player (Mahomes) or you need a really decent offense and a great great defense in order to win the super bowl.

It used to be that you could draft well at RB and run your way to a Superbowl. I think Jerry was still caught in that mode of thinking hence why they wanted to build around Zeke wasting those years. Those days are probably about over at least until we get another truly amazing RB in the league on the order of a Payton, Dickerson, or Jim Brown and that's not likely to happen. In this modern game you need unique matchup nightmare players and a QB that can mentally handle a lot being thrown at him. What Mahomes has accomplished the last two seasons with basically no blocking is nothing to sneeze at but even he is living off throws that most people would call iffy as frick but he's got a guy like Kelce out there bailing him out just like Tom Brady had Gronk out there bailing him out a lot of the time. Those big TEs that can run are really the x factor it seems to me but you can draft those big dudes tell the world looks level and never get a Gronk or Kelce type results.

Anyway I think Cincinnati has the roster construction to pull it off in the next couple years if they can protect Joe Borrow. I think that team if healthy is coming into the right age to go on a run...don't know that the coaching is there but we'll see.

I'm hoping Jerry has figured out that paying a loser QB $60 mil a year is not the right path.  If he pays Dak, CeeDee, and parsons the market rate those three will eat about half the cap in 25.  Parsons is no Aaron Donald or Lawrence Taylor.  I'd trade him tomorrow for a slew of picks.  Let Dak go.  Build the o line, the d line, and find a decent qb on a rookie contract.
