Jesus some of yall get suckered into some dumbshit clickbait garbage.  The new onside kick rule is in conjuntion with the new Dynamic Kickoff Rule which is very cool and hopefully make the kickoff a viable part of the game for the first time in decades, like since the flying wedge was banned. 

NCAA needs to adopt this new rule.  It will change how nfl rosters are built and force special teams coaches to earn their fucking money.  I excited to see how it is implemented.  some coaches are going to get fired for failures to adequately use the new rules as a new offensive opportunity and a defensive problem to solve.  Watch the video.

It can still work with a good kicker and quick guys nearest where the ball is kicked, and again with an odd shaped ball. But I do agree they screwed it up already with the change to no movement.

I don't like the idea of putting the offense out there. What's the point of having special teams?

I watched a video from the HOF game and didn't see anything that different. Except, now with the kicking team so close, the return guy has no real chance to let a seam develop due to the kicking team missing/overrunning lanes, etc.

I guess the return team getting a holding penalty is better than a block in the back. 🫤

Don't watch much nfl do you?  The onside kick was a huge long shot for decades because a surprise one happened about once a decade.  With the rule change it died completely.  Cowboys stole one a couple years ago because the Falcons thought they couldn't move until the ball went ten yards. 
The kickoff return is dead as well and only happened with bad kicks;  the typical action is to kick it over the end zone, touchback, another commercial. 

Of course you won't see anything in the HoF game.  They've been in camp a week, plus no one is going to show thier hand.  Both sides want a return now and receiving teams will start running plays.  This will also change how bottom of rosters are built for special teams.  The spring leagues use the 4th and 15 inlieu of an onside kick and it's far superior as there is a far better chance of success.  NFL should use that too. 

Were I a coach I would have a separate 2 point squad and go for it every TD.  Right now it's 50/50.  Get a Tebow style QB and move the odds to 3/4 and you'll win more games.
 
All the folks whining about the No Fun League are the ones whining about a new rule designed to convert the most no fun play in the game into something exciting.

That's not the solution they are looking for.   The kickoff was going to get banned because of its outrageously higher rate of injury on a largely useless as fuck play. So they basically used a kickers leg to make a play largely ceremonial to keep calling it football.  The new rule is designed to bring back returns while minimizing injuries.

And before you yammer about pussyfying the game the nfl saw a threat coming from CTE and catastrophic injuries a few years ago.  Combine that with a $1.8 billion payroll and they want to save the game, hence the big support into developmental games, high school support, and teaching new tackling techniques.  Otherwise the same folks that want your guns and oil and gas ranges will ban football.

Why do you think he's not serious.  Three straight 12-5 seasons.  He doesn't play the games.  They've had as good draft classes as any team in the league.  He's got a QB that's been an mvp candidate the past three seasons. (Dak is a loser in January)

The cap is an issue because of their good drafts.  If he signs Dak, CeeDee and parsons to their expected contracts Dak would be the highest paid player in history. CeeDee the highest non qb offensive player, and parsons highest defensive player I. History.  Three players taking half the fucking cap.  That's not doable.

Dak cannot be traded.  He's an 8 year veteran and is another version of Kirk cousins.  He wants 3years $60m per so he can get a fourth contract.  Fuck him. So he'll play out his contract at $55mil this year a result of restructures.  He has three void years 25-27.  If he's not resigned and leaves they accelerate and is a $40 mil dead cap hit next year. 

Do top WRs win games or just get the highlights?  I would have traded CeeDee for picks but I expect him signed or traded before Labor Day. 

Micah extension talk is way premature. He's under contract thru 25, $5mil this year and $21mil in 25.  He can then be franchised in 26 and 27 if you wish.  He is not the disruptor Lawrence Taylor was.  He shows real issues with stamina after Thanksgiving.  He overpersues and teams use it against him.  He's not a cohesive teammate.  I would trade him after 24 for a boatload of picks. He is not worthy of the salary he seeks.

As Jimmy taught, it's all about picks.  The more you have the more chances you have.  The league is more of a crap shoot than ever. 

Rebuild the lines.  Pressure the QB.  And your can win because you have depth.  And trade big name players before they go into FA. 

If Jerry was truly serious, he wouldn't have kept Garrett for as long as he did, wouldn't have hired Fat Nutt to replace him, and certainly wouldn't have kept him after the last two seasons.  Coaching matters.

A better coach would handle the issues you mentioned, which are valid concerns.  Shit rolls downhill.
