They kept him as a 3rd QB last season and my understanding is they openly talked about keeping him as the 2nd for this season as early as last season. The last time I said something like "they won't cut him" dude was cut the next day so I'm not saying that but I do believe the 49ners like him in the room and are still a bit scarred from a couple years ago where they went thru 3 or 4 guys. Paying a guy 2 million to be a backup these days is probably a drop in the bucket.

Cam Curl is probably the one that's most surprising. Seemed to be over valued and overrated at Arkansas. Shits out and goes pro only to make the Washington Swamp Dragon's roster and I believe is a starter for them.

got a two year deal with the rams over the offseason. he was a starter for washington a few years but had a hand injury in 2022 and never got his spot back.

rams contract is for $9mil, 6 of it guaranteed. not bad for a late 7th round pick.

Why are the refs constantly announcing "[player number] is eligible, [player number] is ineligible" between plays?

So they can line up on the end of line in certain formations so they don't get an illegal formation penalty. They tell the refs when they come in so the defense knows they have to cover a fatass lineman. Mainly when they bring in an extra lineman.

no they've always announced if a player is an eligible receiver as long as I can remember. They do it in college as well I believe.
