Dowdle averaged 5 yards a carry and wasn't used much.  Zeke averaged 2.1 on too many touched against a team expecting pass every down. 

The problem is who replaces Mike.  Schottenheimer is a proven shitbag.  Zim?  Al Harris?  Bets are shifting to Bones, the Special teams coach who has the only performing squad

It doesn't really matter as this is pretty much a lost season. Name an interim and hire a competent coach in the offseason.

I'd think they would fire the DC first then when that doesn't work they'll let McCarthy go. But they do have a Haslett and a Fassel on the team waiting in the wings. I would figure they'd go Al Harris for interim to get those street cred points up and dude is probably legit ready for a least a crack in that situation.

Jags may end up having to fire Doug Pederson. If I'm not mistaken this will make 2 QBs Pederson has destroyed between Wintz and Lawrence. Impressive. Lawrence is gonna need a QB rehabber. Not sure how tradable he is but one might have to wonder if the Dolphins would make a deal at this point and try to push Tua out the door due to medical issues.

This was just brought up on ECM (espn radio show)....Other than Derrick Henry is there another running back presently active that is on pace for a HOF career? Maybe McCaffery.

Just goes to show how neutralized that position has become over the last 8 to 10 years. RBs in some cases will have longer careers but are more utility players now than legit workhorses.

The weird thing though is we have multiple QBs in the league that are turrible at QBing where it seems to me the best answer for that is to run the damn ball.

With the extinction of a lead blocker we are now seeing the demise of the star RB. Anyway food for thought. Even a guy like Kamara who in my mind would be more of a modern style of running back in addition to the aforementioned McCaffery. A Marshall Faulk type that can line up wide and come in and take carries...those guys aren't exactly flooding the league.

Yeah he knows he fucked up badly and doesn't want to hear it. Maybe don't go on your fans radio show and talking down to the hosts and telling them they have no business questioning him about that stuff. Same thing with message boarders getting criticism for daring to offer an opinion. If you don't like the heat then stay out of the kitchen.

I don't understand why you wouldn't make some changes on the coaching front. But sure let's threaten to make changes on the radio team... that'll do it.

It's probably not McCarthy that's at fault for the roster management and maybe that weighs in here. That defense should be better than it is. Who's job is that? Zimmer? Well fucking send his ass... coordinators are fired all the time.

It feels like the cowboys are repeating the same mistakes regardless of players. They had a glimmer of hope under Parcels and then pretty much after that it's been mostly all hat and no cattle.

The days of big money 2nd and 3rd contract Star RBs is over.  The metrics simply bear it out.  There is a brick wall at 27 and 1500 touches that for all but a few are impenetrable.  Most RBs last less than three years; if they can't learn to pick up blitzes and block and play special teams they won't last long.  The money continuing to erode because colleges produce a ton of RBs to chew through.

I would not sign jim brown or Walter Payton to a 2nd contract in today's game.  Draft high is fine but use em up and get another one. 

The best decision Jerry made this year was passing on Derrick Henry.  30 years old, over 2200 touches, and two declining seasons. They were correct to avoid paying 2yr /16 mil for him; his resurgence this year is remarkable but was not foreseen. Plus he would not be getting his yards behind this o line.    Conversely, Jerry's worst decision was bring back Zeke.  29 years old, 2450 touches, and in decline for several seasons.  Waste of a roster spot.  And that ties to last years dumbest decision which was drunkenly trading a 4 pick for shitbag Trey Lance at $8 mil for his last year.  That 4 pick would have made a nice RB or WR.  Or DL.
