Kramer placed on second to start the 8th. Special rule for this tournament.

Gammill bunts her to third.

Prigge strikes out looking. Inexcusable.

Miller strikes out swinging. Shit.

Jenny Sandusky placed on second.

Frankie Harris bunts her to third.

Josie Paterno singles off Ellis's glove for the winner.

Fucked up rules. It should t count on the record.

It's the absolute most retarded rule in sports.  Especially in softball.

Our bats were cold today. It happens.

I think part of it was because the pitchers had less velocity.  We pulled a ton of pitches WAY foul, followed by weak contact.

Mainly, the last game they just looked tired. It may have been our travel schedule that forced the back to back games today, but that was a lot to ask after already playing three in two days.

Why do you say that?

Softball is already a small ball centered game.  Putting a runner on second to start the overtime period is stupid.  It isn't real baseball/softball.  It's a dumb as the overtime game for college football.

Barton Fink

Don't both coaches have to agree before the game to invoke the 2nd base rule? Has that changed?

I disagree with you on CFB overtime, but the ghost runner rule at any level is dumb as hell.

I don't know about that. I was just told yesterday at the game that it was a rule for this tournament.  It makes sense with six teams playing five games each over three days. And there is only one field.

no, the international tie breaker has been in use a long time.
before it was in place Arkansas and Alabama played a 17 inning game, it was brutal.

it is a good rule, also, if it was a bad rule then why did MLB adopt it?

They use it in travel ball pool play and I think in bracket play as well, primarily to save arms.  I don't like it in bracket play. I'd be ok if they did traditional (no runner on 2nd) in the first 2 or so extra innings, then went to the international rule after that if still tied.

Edit: I'm talking about baseball.  I don't have daughters and have only been to a handful of my niece's games.

Because Manfred is a dipshit.

I guess if MLB adopted it then it must be good.  I don't suppose it has anything to do with television.

Softball pool play ends due to a time limit.
Usually the ITB will go a couple innings, had one in ATL last summer go 6 extra which made it a 3 hour game.
Some tournaments now will add an additional runner each inning and some start bases loaded. Puts a ton of pressure on the defense, which the better teams do anyway.

The ladies are in beautiful Tucson this weekend for another round robin invitational, something called fhe the Bear Down Fiesta.

They won one game today, 7-0 over Long Beach State.

Currently playing the host team and it has not started well. The Lady Cats lead 2-0 after 1.

It's streamed live here (no announcers):

Currently leading 3-2 over Arizona in the top of the 6th after a 9-2 win over Omaha earlier.

It would be a nice feather in the cap to win one against them.
