This. I think hiring a coaching staff spur of the moment was as big a problem as roster. If Davis and Aidoo hadn't been struck by the Arkansas curse, the roster looked good to begin the year.

we have good talent, but not a good team. we're getting beat by guys that can understand and stick to a game plan.

Agree for the most part. I don't know that I'd say they can't stick to a game plan but more so we don't really have a game plan. We don't shoot a lot of 3s. We don't pound it inside. We try getting to the rim but have been awful at converting layups and we don't get to the line enough. We have nothing we can hang our hat on. We can't say "if we play our game, we'll win". No one knows what thet is. It's bizarre.

We have 3 guards who basically play the same position.  They're all primary ball guys.

We have Brazile and Aidoo who basically play the same position. They're not back to the basket but rather clean up guys. I'm actually not sure what we do with Z.  But he's finesse like Brazile too.

Richmond and Knox just aren't it.  They're lower level McDonald's All-Americans like we usually get.  See Baye Fall or Glendon Alexander.

That's not good roster construction and just can't happen again.

Richmond and Knox are the kind of guys who need to be in the 10-12 spots on the roster.  Both have talent, and could blossom the way Thiero has as sophomores or juniors.  We shouldn't be counting on them as much as we have to right now.

I have absolutely no reason to base this on other than the eye test. I'm assuming we are going against teams that have rosters full of experienced players and not a bunch of diaper dandy types.

Our roster is not as young as our local media is making it out to be...it's only young in that we're depending on a freshman to play hero ball. Have very little in the way of physicality beyond Adoo Theiro who going up against grown ass mens in the SEC suddenly doesn't look nearly as physical as he was going against North Texas or whatever. I believe he's a 2nd year player so he's still fairly young in his development. Big Z didn't play much last season and he's a Connor Vanover hair cut away from being a very viable option for...Vanderbilt.

I love Richmond and feel like we should be letting him play thru his mistakes. His energy gets him in trouble with fouls. He's like a young way better and bigger version of Devo if that makes any sense. I think he's got great upside.

Knox should probably be stuffed down in the paint until he learns how to shoot consistently.

Wagner and Davis are just nothing burgers most of the time but as has been said we've got 3 guards that all basically do the same thing.

None of these guys play well together. Brazile dives on the floor and 4 of our guys look at him and jog up the floor. That pretty much says it all.

Complete lack of heart on this and last year's team.  Losing doesn't seem to bother them all that much.

WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN DONE???

Hunter needs to quit tweeting and making stupid videos and get that statue unveiled ASAP.

Coach more than deserves it and he is not getting any younger.

Small roster that is hit with injuries, it is obvious they aren't scrimmaging in practice.

You can not win with freshmen vs covid seniors  that are 5 and 6 years older.

We'll probably beat Georgia and Oklahoma to get a couple of wins.

Then we'll spend the week off speculating on ways we can go to Kentucky and win.

We will proceed to go to Rupp and get the doors blown off by 35.

I saw literally 30 seconds of the game Saturday. We had a chance to cut it to 9 and then committed 2 turnovers and it was back to 13.Hope Calipari can figure it out, but until he does, I'll just watch the Thunder instead. Joe and Williams playing pretty big roles and they are just a lot more fun to watch.

Exactly.  That's on Calipari.  He only went after 9 guys.  So he looked at those 2 coming in and said "yeah we're good."

That's what concerns me.

I pray this happens. 2 wins in a row would be an absolute godsend.  And probably get us back to bubble contention.

Let's see -

Davis is lost
Roster is weirdly constructed
Paying $ doesn't assure success
Time appears to have passed Cal by

Can't get anything past those anonymous "SEC coaches"

Woopigs already had all this covered.

Disagree with his take that Fland hasn't panned out.  He's had a rough 3-4 games but he's still our best player and a first round pick.

Wagner is what he was at Kentucky for the most part.  The best player on the floor for stretches, then lost for other equally long period.  If you were expecting a star he's a disappointment, but if your expectations were realistic (solid SEC guard, decent shooter and defender) he's met them.

I don't think it's fair to fully blame Cal for Davis being ass so far.  Some of his problems are role related, but he's also lacked urgency and focus.  How do you give a bigger role to a guy who dribbles the ball off his leg unguarded in the backcourt, calls inexplicable timeouts, and just basically hangs out looking for threes?  It's a catch-22...maybe making him the focus offensively brings him out of his funk, but if it doesn't the losses just get worse.
