Could some of this animus be contrived?  They say all publicity is good publicity, and if people are talking about the foul on Clark, or Reese's T's, at least they're talking about the WNBA.  Heretofore, no one gave even a tiny shit about it. 

ESPN has always had a strategy of pumping someone or some team up and fostering "fill in the blank" hate.  Your reason for watching doesn't matter.
