The only thing that matters is winning the championship in Omaha.

what's the point here.

So what? You act like winning an SEC championship prohibits you from winning a national championship. I want Arkansas to win everytime they play, espEcially against LSU, Ole Miss and Aggy.

You have any thoughts on how our team will do in the post season?

Yeah he's gonna need to sit this one out on making any post season predictions.

See sig line..

The one time DVH won it, it did, in fact, prohibit the team from winning the NCAA title because Paulette got hurt costing the team a starting pitcher.

Just treat this thread like the sec tournament and take the L on this one.

100% this.

We've won exactly two titles "that matter," one disputed. In how many years of playing these sports?

John McDonnell would like a word.

Running.  Seriously?

And yes, I know we dominate that.

Yes, any national championship in any sport is better than an sec tournament title. I don't understand the fans that claim to want to win every game only to minimize over 40 national championships.

vegashog

no one on here has said a fucking thing about not wanting to win.

Confirmation bias. There aren't six people outside the state of Arkansas who realize we've won one of those, much less 40.

It's fine. And it's A measure of greatness. We have an amazing facility and an endless pipeline, with generational leadership.

And I would trade all of it in a heartbeat for ONE national championship in football.

They don't care because it wasn't their school that won them. If it was, they would care. It's an amazing accomplishment that I will gladly celebrate as a fan.

With that said, if lesser coaches at TN, Ole Miss, and Ms St can win a title, DVH deserves one. I wish this team would sack up and find a way to get it done for him. It's long overdue.

Of course it's amazing. At that level.

It's not the same.

How many conference championships did he win? Or did he just sit those out in order to win a national championship?

I've always felt like that SEC tournament run in 2021 took something out of us. We looked exhausted when the postseason came, perhaps from the pressure of winning every regular season series, being #1 throughout, and the fact that most series were close and 2-1 (hence why we saw so many 9 out saves from Kopps).

If ever a team could've benefited from dropping a series or 2 in the regular season and/or going 2 and done in Hoover it was that one.

Good point. Kopps for sure looked that way, and/or there was so much more video of him to study for tendencies that he became a little more hittable.

And I'm sorry to go grammar police, but this one is nails on a a chalkboard for me. "Hence why" is redundant.

DVH and Hobbs developed this nasty tendency in 2021-2024 to get too reliant on one particular closer and start to call on him for 9 out saves in both game 1 and the rubber match instead of having the bullpen step up.

They did it with Kopps in '21, Tygart in '22, Wood in '23, and Gaeckle last year. Except for Kopps all were freshmen, and except for Kopps they all wore down in the stretch run. Tygart was the worst in that he went from unhittable to unusable by the time we went to Hoover in 2022, and he saw extremely limited action from Stillwater onward because he'd completely lost command.

It does seem like they're spreading the bullpen load much more this year. I like Gaeckle in a long middle relief role in support of Root or Wood depending on the circumstance.

BleedinRed

I'll defend Tygart all day.  He was 100% injured and they kept running him out there.  Not sure why.
