Learning on the job isn't always a quick process. The 9-4 season was fool's gold in a way.  The team was that good, but the program was fighting above its weight class to get there. 

One thing I like about Sam is that when he sees a weakness he isn't afraid to address it. For instance, Odom is a solid strategist as a DC, but he's not a good recruiter. Sam went out and got some guys who can bring in a higher caliber of players.  Hopefully the days of starting multiple walk-ons on defense are nearly behind us.
