We would be good but clearly Ronnie Brewer took the whole team water sliding this past summer.

Get back on, fellas.

Tried to tell y'all. Wins are coming.

BASS

yesterday after i got the news about boogie i was trying to think of a way that we wouldn't be dog shit on the court.  i had a thought that maybe it would be addition by subtraction, the other 7 guys step up, magic chemistry, whatever.  but i didn't believe it.

then we came back from 15 down in the 2nd half.  maybe it was a fluke.

I think the Boogie injury may have forced this team into an identity. Make the game as ugly and grimy as possible and hope to grind out some wins.

Barton Fink

When they show Boogie's highlights last night I noticed he had a wrap on his hand in the FL and LSU games. He's obviously been injured. I still think the team is better with him.

It was the 2nd half last night that won me over.  I saw guys diving on the floor.  I saw guys fighting against bigger guys for rebounds.  I saw laser focus at the free throw line.  I saw better help defense.

Basically, they fought like wild Hogs.  That's who we are.  And when I see it, I know it.

Are we the most talented?  No. Never have been and never will be.  But do we have more heart?  Last night we did, especially in the 2nd half.

I agree with the trigger guy about an identity.  Thiero and Knox exemplify who we are now.  They became the mens we needed last night.

Maybe so. But also maybe, having a PG who is your leading scorer and most frequent shooter isn't a recipe for winning basketball. Certainly it wasn't getting us anywhere, either offensively or in Ws.

Corey Beck remains the best PG model. Team leader, tough guy, and distributor.

Yeah, he injured it during the first half of the Florida game.

That's because he's the best shooter as well. Boogie can play PnR and get to spots to score or distribute. No one else on our team can do that. Despite his shooting woes lately (likely due to injury), he has had a really good assist to TO ratio.

Corey Beck benefited from Uber talent all around him. He was probably the 10th best scoring option on that team. Boogie is 1 or 2.

Yeah I wouldn't go that far.

I agree with all this.  I am just saying, perhaps a team make-up that you accurately describe is not the best formula for a winning college basketball team.

Cal has targeted score first point guards for a long time. Rose, Wall, Booker, Murray, SGA, the list goes on.

Ok. maybe 6th. Beck was a great distributor and lead defender. Point is he didn't have to worry about scoring. This team needs Boogie to score.

It's gonna be hard to beat teams like Bama, AU, FL, KY, etc. without putting up a lot of points.

Putting up these numbers is not a recipe for success.

Beck was, by the slimmest of technical margins, our 4th leading scorer at 8.8 points per game.  Dillard was 3rd at 8.9.  So really Beck was tied for 3rd.

Corliss 20.4
Thurman 15.9
Dillard 8.9
Beck 8.8
McDaniel 8.1
Stewart 8

Beck is the one you want fighting with you in a dark alley. He didn't have to score, unless he had to, but he ran the offense and team. We need a Corey Beck. Corliss would probably say the same.
