It's early but Hitting and defense haven't been very good through the first three games. 

I do think, unlike the other SEC teams, we are playing a good team so there is that. 

We put up 19 hits and 18 runs in two games yesterday. I'd say the hitting is ok.

I will give you the observation about the defense.

Maxwell rips what should've been a double to LF, but he came up lame with the hamstring and ended up at first.  Carson Boles on to pinch run.  Runner at 1st, 0 out.

Iredale walks.  Runners 1st and 2nd, 0 outs.

Diggs strikes out swingijng.  Runners 1st and 2nd, 1 out.

Wild pitch moves up the runner from 2nd, not 1st.  Runners 1st and 3rd, 1 out.

Peppi strikes out. Runners on 1st and 3rd, 2 outs.

Souza walks.  Bases loaded, 2 outs.  BEER HATS ENGAGE!

Helfrick, replacing Fraser who ran for Becker earlier, grounds into a fielder's choice at 2nd.  3 outs.

End 8th.  Hogs lead 5-2.

PITCHING CHANGE:  Carson Wiggins in for Coil.  Yes, Carson is the younger brother of Jaxon Wiggins. 

Longo pops the 3-3 pitch out to Reese Robinett, in for Peppi at first.  1 out. 

Skjonsby grounds out over the 2nd base bag to Aloy.  2 outs.

Obenour doubles to LF, after Iredale and Helfrick let a gimme pop up drop between them.  Runner on 1st, 2 outs.

Cresswell strikes out swinging at strike four.    3 outs.

HOGS WIN 5-2.

I thought Jaxson Wiggins had returned. It's uncanny how much his younger brother looks and pitches like him. If he can locate that slider or curve he'll be unhittable.

Agreed. The 2 I saw that were called balls certainly looked like strikes. I was surprised the hitters laid off of them. 100 mph will pitch by itself but throw in something 10-12 mph slower for strikes and that is just stupid good.

Root was impressive last night.  Baldeschies is supposed to be good, too.  We'll see tomorrow.  Pitching looks stacked, per usual.

We saw some decent hitting. 

Iredale is a badass.  Both our catchers (Helfrick and the frosh) had decent bats so far.

I still think NT might fuck em all up.  Seen it too many times.

Root looked like a bas ass! He reminds my of Hagan Smith a bit. Not quite as much velo (even though he was topping out at 95), but his nasty back foot slider to a righty and the same are slot.
