Here is one humble retards take on this team...

Our issues were not number of players.  Our issue was types of players. (edit; # of players was not our main issue)

It is great to have down low players who have length and are able to block shots.  But that doesn't really matter.

We need one legit big man who can take up floor space, not just verticle space, and we need one legit "roll around the screen and elevate" jump shooter.  This team had neither.

We have guards who can get to the basket.  We didn't, however, have that guard that could create his own shot with either the step back or coming off a screen.  We also had bigs that can go up and block a shot.  But we didn't have a big that can hold his ground.

I humbly submit we did not have a complete team that was build to win a national championship.  This team over achieved if you ask me.  Could they beat anyone on any given night?  Sure.  Could they run through a 64 team tournament?  Nope.

Florida, Tennesee, Aubun, Texas Tech all proved that a team needs a guy who can put his back to the basket and back his guy down.  That was the most important piece missing this year.

Cal did a hell of job this year given what he inhereted.  Which was nothing.  My Kentucky friends are all saying, "Typical Cal." and "Glad he isn't here anymore so we don't have to put up with his getting bounced."  I wouldn't trade Cal for Pope.  I'm excited for next year.

That Tech guy looked like a fat Corlis Williamson when he backed down for that shot last night.  You knew exactly what was coming and you knew it was inevitable.

I agree.  I think Cal did a remarkable job in a single season. They went deeper than I thought, but I think they got the stupids with 16 up and just collapsed. So while it's a surprise that got to this game, they should have won this game because they were winning it decisively late.

If in that last three minutes we had just turned the ball over on a shot clock violation every trip down the floor, we would have won.

That's how bad our collapse was.

Barton Fink

I've learned life gives you aclot of good times, a lot of bad times, and a shit load of what ifs. We choose how we want to look at it.

That said, if you told me last October we'd lose a sweet sixteen game in OT, I would've signed up for it. A month ago, I would've asked if you needed it in blood.

It was a good year overall. Got us back to winning after last year's fiasco. Our kids played as hard as you could've asked. I'm looking forward to next year.

And it wasn't like we fell ass first into a SWEET 16...we beat two pretty salty teams to get there. It's pretty critical to get a better seed which is why I'm a bigger proponent of getting some depth. As a higher seed it's just such a steep hill to climb. This team if fully healthy for the balance of the season was probably at worst a 5 seed. Probably more likely a 4 seed. Injuries and lack of continuity pushed us down to a 10.

This team was long and fast but could get easily pushed around especially in the paint...so yes I agree a lot can be fixed with getting 1 or 2 heavier guys. Can't argue that we need some legit shooters/shot creators. I think a year 2 Knox and Richmond those guys probably come back much stronger and more confident in what Cal needs them to do. I'd like to see at least 4 main rotation guys come back for next season.

It's certainly not unreasonable to want to be 8/9 deep but traditionally if you did get a injury you still had a legit 10-13 to pull from...we didn't have that this season like at all. We got some glorified walk-ons that supposedly can shoot it but probably couldn't defend me.Then treated them like they didn't exist at all so that either tells me Cal had no intentions on paying the scrub non-NILed guys or they just weren't any good. Pretty sure Cal has been known to stash some guys on the roster that end up coming out of nowhere to be good players so I won't put it past one or two of these guys to it here but given the modern realities they'll probably bounce to other situations.

While we should have been able to win the game up 13 with 4 minutes left, I can think of worse losses in Razorback history.

Hoping this one provides a little extra motivation to Cal and any returning players to get redemption next year.

All in all, this year was a success.

Splash 11! drop ABE track, too confusing

Jesus fuck that had to be the quickest "tie-ball" I've ever seen...usually it requires at least two teams to possess the ball too.

I don't want to give those refs the benefit of pretending they're smart enough to make the split-second decision, but I still think if the possession arrow is going our way they let Tech commit a few fouls to try to get the ball away before they call the tie-up.
"That's embarrassing.  Looks like Josh Duggar the first time his parents asked him to babysit."

For $7 mil I'll put a webcam in front of my shitter so I can answer fan questions while I drop the Longhorns off in College Station.

Once authored a post that critics claimed, "Was notaslibro level."

"They" did their fair share to help Tech get back in it.

Barton Fink

That's an understatement. Still should've won it.

We weren't beating Florida.

I won't draw you a picture.

I'm pumped for next year. We're going to be really good.

Honestly, I'm over the loss, but that Tech possession where they got 6 ORs still pisses me off.

I'm with you on that. I thought it was lovely me 10.

Tech blowing a 9 point lead with under 3 minutes left and losing to Florduh made me feel slightly better.

Yeah, they closed the game on a pretty good run. It did help take away some of the sting.

I have never cared much for basketball (likely due to my disastrous attempts at playing the game) but my wife and eldest daughter are absolute fanatics--particularly where the Razorbacks are concerned. Their emotional weather report while following Hog roundball this season has ping-ponged from impending rain to blue skies and sunny optimism to the final Cat V hurricane that was Thursday night.

On Friday morning, my wife's Razorback spirit was moribund and even the mention of the upcoming Vandy baseball series brought only a slight flutter of its pulse but it was able to sit up and take a bit of nourishment from Kentucky's Sweet Sixteen loss. Then a miracle occurred; Texas Tech's spectacular choke job against Florida in the final three minutes of their Elite Eight matchup was the Ivermectin needed to overcome the Hog-19 curse stealing the life away from her Razorback spirit. Today, she and my daughter are already discussing the prospects of a deep NCAA run for the Hogs next year.

The moral of this sad little tale? Sometimes, for a Razorback fan, the lamentations of defeat arising from your enemies are almost as sweet as the cheers of victory coming from your mouth.
