SEC must go to 9 games

Playing in a 16 team SEC doesn't benefit Arkansas on the field either but it sure as hell pays well.
1964 isn't coming back, we've been to Atlanta 3 times in 25+ years, it is time to face the reality of the situation.

We are surrounded on all borders by conference schools for the first time ever. NLI, The portal, etc. 
What makes you think we will be a player in football? We can't beat frickin Missouri. Shit we can't even cover the spread against them.

Then what is the point of having a program?  If we can't win then why play?   Who cares how much money we can make if we can't compete?

Actually if the sec exits the ncaa, I'm for a fucking 15 game sec schedule. They are pros now so fuck class.  The money would be hugest.

an article in the athletic says espn has already offered $50-80 million extra for a 9th conference game.

cbs gave up the sec so i doubt they will ever televise it again, not for the foreseeable future anyway. espn's contract runs for another 9 years.

The path is for the SEC to become the separate nfl developmental league over and above the oher shits in the ncaa. Big10 can either come along or not.  Who gives a fuck about 6 game eligible bowl games?  All that will matter is the new sec championship and the bowls that choose to become playoff games. 15 games, all conference, with all nfl developmental talent.  ESPN will kowtow to that and pay big $ for it, likely with an expansion of sec network and a hefty sub fee for us.

Most of those schools in one form or another is making TV revenue or getting paid largely to get prison sext on live television and would be at a great risk of diminished importance the moment the big schools break away to form some kind of alliance that excludes their participation. People would lose interest, sports networks would have dead air if they didn't show them but overall I think it would quickly become another D2 or whatever. Nobody will care about the Tulsa's and the Akron's of the world. 

No doubt if the big schools formed a non-ncaa alliance it would make for great tv and possibly be something awesome to behold but it's going to come at the cost of the rest of what is now college football.

That's exactly why so many coaches are opposed to the switch.  The possibility of a barely above .500 season and a shitass bowl are all that guys like Pittman, Drunkshitz, Stoops, and whoever is at Miss State in any given year has to look forward to.

Frankly I don't care about the big 12 or the pac whatever or directional schools. Segmentation has to happen. The money and everything else dictate it.

The second tier of b12, acc, pac, can still thrive in their regions and alumni, just at a different level. The rest are where they are scrambling just as they always have.

Would you want to be the same loser over in the big 12, fighting it out with Baylor, OSU, and Kansas?  Fuck that shit.  We're where we need to be and just need to get folks involved that can bring the money to bring great coaching. The shit parade since the Harleygate has been a disaster.
