Quote from: DirkPiggler on Mar 23, 2023, 09:09 AMThe problem isn't as much with virtual tickets as it is StubHub's failure to adjust to acquiring those tickets.

They need to come up with a way to immediately acquire the tickets once someone lists them and invalidate the originals.  They are able to do this with venues and/or teams with whom they have partnerships.

And self checkout is a fabulous invention.  I can get in and out much faster checking out my own stuff than I can waiting on someone else to do it for me.  I don't like it being the only option, as some people just don't move fast enough to avoid creating bottlenecks.

I will always agree with the meme that goes something like,

I don't fucking work here. Maybe I can come in early tomorrow and help unload the trucks and stock, too?

Quote from: hit_that_line on Mar 23, 2023, 09:27 AMThe older I get, the nicer it is to watch it on my big screen and drink cheap beer. StubHub is a pile of shit.

I just had to replace my main TV.

I haven't bought a new one in a long time.  They're basically free now.  "Well yes, I will pay an extra $100 to go up to a 65 inch screen."

My time is more valuable than any perceived benefit I gain from someone else checking out my groceries.

If I save 2-3 minutes, I won...even if I had to scan and bag my own stuff.  And I always save at least that long...usually a lot more given the standard lines at the human checkouts.

But you actually have to compare a world with an adequate number of checkers (Walmart has like 24 lanes) versus the world where they only keep 2 lines open.

Done right, employee check out should not be any longer.

Plus I DON'T WORK HERE. It's the principal of the thing.

My thoughts are based on the world we actually live in, versus the one from 1994.  If our minimum wage was even remotely in line with the actual cost of living here instead of being based on the standard on the coasts, we probably would still have a lot of checkers.  Blame the feel good idiots who lack even a kindergarten level of economic understanding...at least here in Arkansas.

I don't work at the horse track either, but I've always preferred entering my own bets on a terminal rather than waiting on a teller who expects a tip if I'm cashing a ticket.  One, I'm infinitely faster at entering what I want.  Two, if I fuck up the ticket it's on me and not the little old lady who was trying to listen to and comprehend what I was telling her which horses to put on the bet slip.

My Walmart has maybe 40 self-check positions and 3 or 4 checkers.

I prefer that just because I don't like people.

my Walmart, target and Kroger are all insufficiently staffed...however Walmart is the worst. At any given time there are only two lanes open. The self checkout at all is typically longer than check out because nobody is ever on the checkout lanes
Yep. I'm not trying to be a dick about it. It could have lived. It didn't. Not by my choice. -Elvis

No one except the fat ass behind the counter works at the gas station. Do you really want Wal Mart and your grocery store to turn into that?

Hogworth Ballington III

So I call stubhub this morning to check on replacements. Guy named Brandon (not kidding) says the best they can do is behind the baskets. He finds one in section 1 that has no row description. He checks with his people and it looks the area in front of 1 (closer to the court). So I say "not as good but fine."

Check the email and it says ro VV. Guessing that matches what the guy said because regular row letters are A-Z. Axs doesn't update till I'm about an hour out of Vegas. Section 1, row Y. Mfing what!? That's damn near the upper deck. I call them back to see what's what and sure enough, they sent the wrong tickets, but since it's now too close to the event, they can't do a replacement. So screw me.

Now I'm here in the parking structure looking for a damn ticket.
