all p4 conferences are expected to pass this kind of rule today apparently.

yes it will go to court but if they make the issue all about conferences being able to police their own members, i think it's a little different than just the eligibility stuff these judges are ruling on.

Bringing back NFL players is not fair to existing college players.  The leagues are going to get sued either way: by a former player now in an NFL camp but getting cut who is looking to make some money playing another college year, versus a player already enrolled in college who gets cut from the team to make room on the roster limit for a 5th-year NFL player.
I think they'd rather defend the right of the college kid over the guy who turned pro and now wants to come back for a cash grab, rather than an NFL practice squad for the league minimum, the UFL, Europe, or an arena league.
Oak Grove in the house.

with 105 scholarships available for football, it's not them that are getting their schollies taken away. from what i have read it's the non-revenue guys/gals that are being told they are sol even tho they are enrolled and attending classes. the whole thing is fucked up and some of these state judges have to be getting kick backs.

Natty_Ice

so we lose Wooden?  He tried out for the NFL but didn't get picked up.
Things of that nature

lose both of the guys we signed that week. that was because of the fed circuit court getting a stay on the colorado ruling that made them eligible.

i guess an arkansas state judge could make a ruling if a case is brought.

They would rather win championships because that brings in $$$s.   They don't care about the individual player.

Seems like most high school kids would then probably go to a smaller school for a couple of years and see how things go. No matter how talented they are. Why go up against ex pros and get killed or ride the bench?
Well, shit...

I don't believe the SEC has guts enough to actually do this, but they should. I hope I am wrong.

When was that increased from 85 to 105?  I must have missed that.

A couple years ago but SEC schools agreed to cap it around 80 so as to not have to pay that many players. At least I think that's right.
The Lord wants you to put your foot on their balls and believe in it. 'Cuz that's what wins football games. Not jumping offsides like a bunch of wimps and faggots. I don't care what those pinkos over in Russia say. You want to be a loser? You go live in Russia. I'm a winner. I'm an American.

think they agreed to keep it at 85 for a couple of years to let current walk-ons age out,  so to speak

That makes more sense than what I pulled out of my ass.

It feels like a decade ago that we all hated Texas Tech for bringing in the gambler.

No Kenny Rogers jokes necessary.
"That's embarrassing.  Looks like Josh Duggar when his parents asked him to babysit."

For $7 mil I'll put a webcam in front of my shitter so I can answer fan questions while I drop the Longhorns off in College Station.
