Who ever said that Nolan was a saint?  This sounds like a P&R discussion with the "for me or against me" simpleness.    I was on campus during the glory years. I saw that money flow,  just like I have first hand accounts of the money and drugs that were flowing during Nutt and Petrino.  We're talking about SEC ball.

What I'm telling you is that John White used a complicit, lapdog media to feed a bunch of bullshit to the entire state about Nolan and his issues and laziness and uppityness and what have you.  Broyles was a racist and Nolan got tired of being treated that way, because he knew he didn't have to be treated that way after he accomplished what he accomplished.  Orville and McDonnell both had reached a point with age that they weren't afraid of Broyles anymore and weren't afraid to push against the spin.  Everyone else ran with the bullshit.  It persists to this day.   

You just presented your point from a perspective that appeared to insinuate that Nolan was innocent.  If that was not your assertion maybe I took it wrong. 

I completely agree about the character assassination that took place late in Nolan's career.  Just like most situations where a relationship ends...be it employment, divorce, etc...things could have ended much better if everyone hadn't wanted to paint themselves as morally superior to the other party. 

All the U of A had to do if they wanted Richardson out was wait until the end of his last season and fire him for a lack of performance.  That was completely justified given the massive drop off in success over his last six years, with little to indicate things would turn around.  He still would have sued (the contract called for exactly what he was paid - Nolan seemed to think his buyout would be the entire remaining amount on his contract), and the outcome would have likely been the same.  Airing the dirty laundry through the state-run media did nothing but tarnish everyone.  While the university "won" the lawsuit, Nolan proved a lot of his points..or rather, the university proved them for him.

To get this thread back on topic...how in the blue hell did John fucking White get his name on a building on the U of A campus?  William Mills deserves a building in his honor more than that fuckstain.

I wasn't that upset with hiring Nutt at the time. His first 4-5 years were OK. My problem was with not letting him go to NE, the 2 year pass, the golden parachute...

Sure.  Nutt revitalized a dead program.  I suspect Tuberville would have done the same thing, with higher upside and fewer WTF losses.  But it's not even about the result as much as it is the process.  You hire an AD and let him hire coaches.  If he fails, fire him...don't passive-aggressively neuter him with bullshit processes that usually don't work. 

Arkansas should never allow a coach to remain in his/her job after consecutive losing seasons, with the possible exception of them happening in the first two years of his/her tenure during a massive rebuild.  And then only if the coach shows improvement from year one to year two. 

The bottom line is that White tried to micromanage areas of his responsibility about which he knew less than nothing.  Football and basketball (men's and women's) all were much worse as a result of John White's influence.

Tuberville was a Jimmy Johnson disciple.  His upside and legacy would have been markedly better than Nutt.  It's ridiculous to put John White's name on anything at the UofA given his poisonous decisions.
