These are the times when life sucks.

Carry on, my brother. My prayers tonight are for the family you left behind.

Hogfan58

He was my favorite Hog of the Bert era. RIP Alex.
I need help and I know it.

Snorts

Great vision and feet.  He saw a crease and could hit it in a heartbeat.

Rest easy, my friend.  A true Arkansas great.
Death, Taxes, and the Razorbacks.

Texzilla

A horrific motorcycle accident.  Dead at the scene.  Just fucking awful.

Mazeppa Pompazoidi

In addition to him being a a great running back for the Hogs, the thing I will always remember him for is that he always handed the ball to the refs after a run.  He didn't leave it on the ground and he didn't toss it to them.  Even if he didn't carry it, if it was on the ground near him, he would pick it up and hand it to the ref.  Classy, classy guy.  RIP

vegashog

dude was tough as shit. i remember games when it was painful just to watch him try to get up after some carries.

Idiot lady turned left in front of him travelling the opposite direction.  10:20 pm.  Dark.  He must have been going pretty fast because it said he flew off the bike and went through the rear passenger window and ended up in the back of the SUV.  Not saying anything accusatory.  The speed limit on that street coulda been 55.  Just tragic.  Makes me sick to my stomach.

The speed limit on that street is not 55.  More likely 35 or 40 at most. Lots of traffic lights in a commercial and residential area.

Just ran it on Google Maps.  Street View.  It's 45 mph.  And likely, everyone goes 50.  I would.  If he hit that SUV going even 45, that would cause him to fly through a car window.  Again....very sad.

Yeah I guess that section would be 45. Down here, most go 55-60 in a 45. Most motorcyclists typically go as fast as they want. I'm not saying he did.

Was it at an intersection w/ a traffic light? If so you have to think there's video surveillance of the whole tragedy. Sad deal.
Pants ironed and back for more

Cornhogio

Aside from the fact that he was a great player, he was, from what I've read, a great guy.  Man, this one hurts.

Yes, there is a traffic light at the intersection.

I hate to think about it. Two friends in high school had wrecks in front of me.  The first, a buddy was in front of me on his Kawasaki.  He sped from the light and a lady stops to turn right into a parking lot.  He flew thru the glass.  His arm went over the car.  They rushed him to baptist and reattached it.

The second a buddy on a Harley from high school t boned a station wagon as he was speeding. He died on scene and killed two others.  Awful.

I hope it was instant for Alex.

Worst thing I saw in 23 years as a medic was a guy on a crotch rocket, had to be going flat out.  Someone in a full sized SUV pulled out in front of him.  That SUV rolled several times.  Guy on the bike was torn in half, lengthwise; and decapitated.  In all those years, that's one of only 4 calls that really sticks with me and keeps me up at night sometimes.

Few things are as fun as sitting on top of an engine and going for a ride but I gave it up because I don't trust any other dipshit on the road.
"That's embarrassing.  Looks like Josh Duggar the first time his parents asked him to babysit."

For $7 mil I'll put a webcam in front of my shitter so I can answer fan questions while I drop the Longhorns off in College Station.

Once authored a post that critics claimed, "Was notaslibro level."

Man, I am so ultra-aware and tense as fuck when I ride that it's really not relaxing unless I'm out on a stretch of road that's uninhabited.  But then again, with my poker runs and other benefit rides, I have led dozens of rides, some with 150 bikes trailing behind me.  When I lead, I go the speed limit everywhere and am ultra-conservative.  I've been riding since I was 13 which was 1979.  Knock on wood, pray to St. Christopher, and count my lucky stars, I've NEVER been in an accident and only put my bike on it's side ONCE.  This was somewhere around 1982 while throwing my paper route.  It was January and I hit a patch of ice as I was turning left and just slid over.  Scraped up my knee a bit.  Newspapers scattered everywhere.  Many customers got wet newspapers that morning.

I have though had several friends die on bikes.  AND the most traumatic thing I ever saw in grad school while doing my angiography rotation was a big mofo biker who got ran off the road.  He slammed into his handlebars when he hit the embankment and was unconscious. They got him to the ER and he was bleeding internally but they didn't know where.  So they brought him to angio to find where.  Turns out his aorta was slit.  From the pressure of his impacting his handlebars.  He coded.  They cut his chest open, I mean...pulled his full rib cage out to try to fix it quickly....he flatlined and they got the little heart AED paddles and tried to resuscitate him.  didn't work.  He died. I witnessed the whole thing.  I was freaked out for weeks.  I had never seen someone die before.  Not even a grandparent or anything.

Certainly not as bad as what you saw Pinkphil but bad nonetheless.

This thread went really morbid, really fast.

Judas.

AporkalypseNow

Still terribly sad about this.  Was one of my favorite players of what was a tough era.  Seemed smart and likeable, someone with a bright future after sports.

Sucks.
