Yes, Slavens is finally gone. The starting rotation will almost certainly be Smith, Tygart, and Molina(T Tech transfer). According to the fall ball wrap up from D1 Baseball, they think true freshman Gabe Gaeckle will probably be a midweek starter. McEntire is back and it sounds like we'll try to use him as a jack of all trades bullpen guy on the weekend.

Best guess at the lineup:

Rowland / Helfrick(FR) / White(TT transfer) - C
Wagner - 1B(Tarleton transfer)
Stovall - 2B
Holt - 3B
Aloy - SS(Sac St transfer)
Diggs - RF
Edmundson - LF(Mizzou transfer)
Wilmsmeyer - CF(Mizzou transfer)
Jones / McLaughlin - DH

To me the most intriguing spot is catcher. I thought for sure that Helfrick or White would be the new catcher but Rowland was raking in fall ball. Think he hit around 5 HRs. I expect Helfrick to pass the others at some point and be a multi year starter.
The Lord wants you to put your foot on their balls and believe in it. 'Cuz that's what wins football games. Not jumping offsides like a bunch of wimps and faggots. I don't care what those pinkos over in Russia say. You want to be a loser? You go live in Russia. I'm a winner. I'm an American.

Football schedule: "THE SEC SCREWS US EVERY YEAR! WE GET THE HARDEST SCHEDULE IN THE SEC! WHEN DO WE PLAY VANDY OR KENTUCKY?!!!

Basketball schedule: "The SEC screwed us, because we play Kentucky twice and Bama twice and at Tennessee!!"

2025 Baseball schedule: "The SEC screwed us, they gave us Missouri as a permanent opponent!"

The SEC does us a favor (for once ) in giving us an automatic series win and people really want annual with LSU, which would be fun, but in the nature of winning the league, would not be in our best interest.

Appreciate the run down. Between Wegner, Bohrofen, Cali and Slavens, it  looks like we lost a lot of power from the middle of the lineup. I'm sure that's just the nature of college baseball now with transfers. Hopefully the new guys can pick it up.

Rotation looks really solid as long as they can stay healthy.

I think the TTU kid should get the nod at catcher, but it wouldn't surprise me if DVH rolls with Rowland given his defensive ability. He also seems to be really high on Helfrick.

I prefer offense from that position, or at least more than we got last year. I've seen enough of Rowland whiffing on 3 straight breaking balls and/or going down weakly in a big 2 out situation to kill a rally to want to give someone else the nod there regardless of their defensive ability.

Turner wasn't exactly Yadi Molina behind the plate in 2022 but he could take.

Rowland hit a blistering .182 last year. Agree on him chasing bad pitches and killing rallies.

Bob Uecker from his HOF speech when he knew he was on the way out:
Mgr to Uecker: grab a bat and stop this rally

This is exactly my thoughts. We're beginning to get a pre-2007 Red Sox and Cubs reputation.

I really don't know much about our hitting, but I think our pitching will be better*

(Surely I don't need to explain the reason for the *)

I hate being ranked really high in any of our sports. You know what happens then. We sink like the Titanic.
Well, shit...

Have any of our starting pitchers had their arm explode yet?  It's a Razorback preseason tradition.
Oak Grove in the house.

We still have about 6 weeks. Hagen is the top candidate since he's preseason AA.

Aint that the truth? Everytime I see a new post in this thread I fully expect to open it see one of the starters has had some catastrophic injury.
The same people demanding everyone embrace your beliefs, have zero tolerance and condemn another for embracing theirs.  Oh, the irony.

I would hate being in DVH's shoes this year. The other two majors completely shit the bed and put a bunch of pressure on that man.

He's used to it.  It's been that way for most of the 2000's.
