That's some screwed up Canadian rule, I guess.  I've never seen or heard of anything like that before.  The offense would not keep the ball in the NCAA if they tried that.

Canada follows closer to the old rugby rules so I think as long as the ball crosses the neutral zone it's fair game regardless if it hits a receiving team player or not.

In 'Merica we have a "restraining lines" for both the kicking and receiving teams which creates a 10 yard zone...maybe it's more on a free kick. So at least in the NFL on a free kick the kicking team would have to have the ball touch the opposing player or catch or recover it themselves beyond the restraining line the same as if it were a onside kick coming off any other score in regulation.

So on the last play before the FG, what the fuck happened?  Cowboys called TO with :08 left, and when play resumes the clock is at :03 and the FG team is on the field.  Buck and Aikman seemed to think Fat Nutt wanted to run it down and declined the timeout.  The official next to him kept signaling to run the clock, so they may be right. 

I think Pittman is better at game management than Fat Nutt.  McCarthy is what happens at the intersection of analytics and mental retardation.
