NIL is an example of why the NCAA fought any form of payment to athletes at all.  In just a few short years it has devolved into boosters more or less buying athletes.

This ground has all been covered before.  College football was second only to baseball in popularity in the 1920s.  Schools and boosters were hiring 30 year old oilfield workers and roughnecks to beat up on 18 year old college kids.  The NCAA was instituted to get control of it.

And short of Congress carving out some sort of anti-trust exemption it is going to be real hard for schools to pay players.  There won't be any upper limits to it or that would an anti-trust violation.  Likewise, I think any minimums would be too as that it would be collusion to set market rates that made it impossible for some schools to compete.

Congress is going to act to keep NCAA sports similar to what they are now.  Not sure they will though.

As this evolves now the ncaa moves from feeder to the nfl to competitor.  The nfl needs to do away with its policies regarding drafting of underclassmen.  Kids should be able to go straight to the nfl if they are out of high school and 18.  Few can do that physically but

The NFL will need their own developmental league then. Practice squad will not cut it. The NFL plays 16 regular season games, College football is at twelve. Alabama can draw just as many as any NFL team for 8 home games if the new division went to 16. Hell, Arkansas can outdraw some of them just due to stadium size. 18 NFL stadiums hold between 69,999 and 61,000.

He would have done it a little sooner, but he bumped into a table on his way out the door, fell down, and then spent the next two days at the doctor's office getting checked out.

So... 8 home games some years and then 9 the others unless your one of those teams playing in London.

"That's embarrassing.  Looks like Josh Duggar the first time his parents asked him to babysit."

For $7 mil I'll put a webcam in front of my shitter so I can answer fan questions while I drop the Longhorns off in College Station.

Once authored a post that critics claimed, "Was notaslibro level."

The Lord wants you to put your foot on their balls and believe in it. 'Cuz that's what wins football games. Not jumping offsides like a bunch of wimps and faggots. I don't care what those pinkos over in Russia say. You want to be a loser? You go live in Russia. I'm a winner. I'm an American.

Over half SEC schools and UofA no where to be found. I guess we're in the list with MissSt & Vandy

I think you're not aware of the massive revenue engine of the NFL.  It dwarfs the college game by the metric that matters:  money.

The salary cap is 2024 is estimated at $240.5 mill per team.  Thats $7.69 billion to the players, so the owners get roughly $8.1 billion and that's just tv revenue.
Jerry is the best at maximizing revenue at his stadium, as ATT brings him another billion a year in game revenue.  That doesn't count the 20k that still take the $30 your a week, and the constant corporate events there every day and all the other college games bowls and events.  World Cup coming.

No 32 teams in College can approach it.

The issue of player development is huge.  College ball is no longer developing linemen or QBs with their game.  So does the nfl try to make the USFL a spring developmental league and compete with college?  Or does the nfl do an end around the ncaa and approach the SEC and Big10 about being this for pay college league that is a partnered developmental league?  Built in tv markets.  Kids with potential flick to the new set up.  Big 12 acc and rest get crumbs.
