Why did we spend money on a buyout in a sport that already drowns in red ink, when we knew we were going to have an asstastic roster and be at or near the bottom anyway?  It's hard to stomach the admin bringing back Sam for four games because "we can't afford it" when we're lighting a pile of money on fire to make a bad coach go away in a sport no one gives a fuck about anyway.

the buyout for pittman was many times more than neighbor's. i don't think they can be compared in that context. in the end they both negotiated down, but there was no guarantee that sam would not have said 'give me the $12 million now please', if he was fired at the end of the '24 season. musick is getting $150k less per so if she can stick around the money will kinda make sense.

I'm not really comparing the two as much as this.  If we were so broke that we were scraping pennies, it didn't make sense to effectively waste a million bucks on a sport that is going to suck regardless of who's coaching it given the level of commitment.

Even if it wasn't going to Pittman's buyout, it could have gone to something for a revenue sport, or for a women's sport where we're trying to compete (softball, golf, track, etc).

I know what you're going to say... "Who?"... the women's basketball crowd currently has 270 entries in the transfer portal, with Ashlynn Chlarson and Harmonie Ware planning to depart from Arkansas.  At a combined 12.3 PPG, we'll have to replace half our offensive output.

I haven't tracked it lately but she'll probably still get a shot at the WNBA. She doesn't have the name recognition but she certainly can be marketable.

Fair, but replacing them with better players is gonna be hard when they were the best players you could get and went 12-20 (1-15).
