A bad call is a bad call, but these umps were enthusiastic with their bad calls that went in LSU's favor. The baseball and softball tournaments both have had some atrocious officiating.

Corndogs are explaining it away as a visual distortion, but the point where the catcher caught the ball was the closest the pitch ever got to home plate.  It was moving away from the batter and towards the plate, yet they're acting like it was a slider breaking towards the lefty.

 To your last point, even this could be explained if the ball was moving right to left (from the pitcher's standpoint).  It was decidedly not.
