Quote from: hit_that_line on Apr 02, 2024, 11:29 AMThis season was historically bad. Worst home losses in history. Certainly underplayed versus the talent level. He's a slimy little piece of shit if he's making any demands whatsoever after this year. Yurachek took a chance in him after balking initially because of red flags.

What red flags?  That is a genuine question.  I can't find any controversies in his past.

Idk but we hired him when HY went back a second time. Supposedly balked initially.

SwahiliSteve

wtf do they want him of all people after the season he just had? If he wants to go let him go. He fucked up an entire season this year and I feel most hung on him and working with the team and his recruiting. We should have been better but the team spiraled into chaos
Yep. I'm not trying to be a dick about it. It could have lived. It didn't. Not by my choice. -Elvis

No, we slow played him because we were trying for Beard who was at Tech at the time.

correct. muss's agent reached out to arkansas when the job opened up. he never balked. the hesitation was seeing if beard or marshall would take the job.

While at Arkansas there was talk early on that his staff and him were tampering and doing shady shit to get an edge on recruiting. Probably did something similar at Nevada.

That's all more or less legal now or should say for now.

At LSU as an assistant I'm betting he did some red flag worthy shit but nothing that would matter at all now or be worth mentioning.

Historically as a professional coach he's had ups and downs and mainly they were some so so seasons from what I understand.

The red flag could simply have been that the guy can't stay anywhere for more than a few seasons.

And has to recycle coaches because of personality.

As far as job hopping, he's never been at a job like Arkansas where he has a chance to win a prestigious championship. I know he was in the pros, but he didn't have a team put together that could compete.

He put together a team of morons this year, but I don't expect that to be repeated. If it is, then I'll be ready for him to go.

This is where I'm at. He has always moved up, and now he's at a school that can be a legitimate basketball power. It's not like he has been hopping from PT HC to P5 HC. 2 of the 3 jobs he allegedly has been interested in would be a lateral move,  with Louisville obviously being the more prestigious job. I've always thought a major opening on the West Coast could be what takes him away.

We've had a couple of dumbass "look at me I know something" tweets over the last hour, so I assume we're picking up a commitment soon, Muss is leaving, or HY's behavior is a result of a brain tumor.

This is the one thing I have always wondered about.
Apparently retarded member of the "fucking old people" crowd as defined by Swahili Steve.

Trigger7672

What job has he had where he should have stayed for 10+ seasons?

His 2014 stint as associate head coach of Arizona State, I guess.

Agree with this. It's also hard to find guys who can coach in the tourney, when it matters, and he can.

Broyles had a great quote that a something likeevery time you threaten to leave 10% of the fanbase won't forgive you, it was about Nutt and definitely held true.  You can feel it with Muss and I hate it, because he had full fan support.

Quote from: animal on Apr 01, 2024, 06:48 PMIt tells me he's not going to fire him this season but if he wants to shop himself around then fine. He's not getting more money after the fucking shit show this past season.

If he wants to send a message to one of his coaches then call them into your office and tell them.
Doing it on social media ( if that is what this is, which I doubt) is junior high bullshit that will leave you with your dick in your hand when you have to replace that coach.

Be the athletic director not a drama queen.

Still, the video was stupid, his line was more stupid, and explaining it on a podcast from California no one has heard of is even more stupid.

He needs to face the music but really he never to quit talking.

He is running a million dollar business and if your boss did this you would say fuck em,.

Interviewing for USC tomorrow.

Go get Tang.

if supposedly one of the reasons muss wants to leave is the nil situation, then why would a coach at a school that has a better nil gig going on want to come here?

this doesn't seem to be well though out, imo.

I'd be more on board for Tang if he'd done better this year, but it was a significant step back from year one. Two years of head coaching experience also worries me.

Would rather have Beard or Wade or even someone like McCasland if he wanted to jump from TTU.

flash23

Tang would be a massive gamble. I bet HY makes another run at Sampson. With the football season, then the drama allegedly surrounded the basketball program this year, he knows he needs to make a splash. Sampson isn't a dude that shops himself around. He's old, but he can obviously still coach.

Beard just signed a big extension at Ole Miss, did he not?

You think Ole Miss' NIL is going toward the basketball program? I highly doubt that.

Beard would likely take a raise and come to Arkansas in my opinion.
