It was really a practice. Some fan interactions at first. Then ran some drills. All of the drills we run have a lot of running/conditioning tied in. Then ran through offensive sets against GAs. Cal has brought in former college players as GA's to help in 5v5.

Aidoo, Thierro, Davis, Sanchez, and Chavis did not participate. My understanding is none have serious injuries. I know Davis has been laboring his back and Aidoo has a foot. Not sure on the others.

As for the play, Boogie Fland is really, really good. Lightning quick, good vision, creates shots for others, and is a MUCH better shooter than I thought. He probably made 80% of bis 3's in drills + 5v5.

Brazile looked very good as well. Actually had a play where he scored inside with his back to the basket. Shot the ball well from 3.

I really like Knox and Richmond. Knox is really working on his shot. He was shooting 20 mins before anyone else. He is very physical and Cal wants him driving the ball inside. He can create his shot as well as anyone. This may aound odd (since he is a lefty), but Richmond reminds me of Darrell Hawkins. He's a tough SF that seems to always be in the right place. Has a better jump shot than you think.

DJ was solid. Knocked down some shots and distributed the ball well. Very good on ball defensive PG.

Big Z didn't do anything great or awful. He is very skilled and athletic to be 7'2".

Pretty disappointing crowd. Might've been half full. Hopefully more will turn out in PB. If not, I doubt they do this again.

He makes the game look easy. Coach Z made the comparison to Mayberry but he reminds me of John Wall. He's got that kind of speed and vision.

Cal wants this team playing uptempo. They put an emphasis on quickly transitioning from defense to offense. Regardless if it is a miss, make, or TO. They have certain roles and lanes for each scenario. He wants the ball pushed up court and to attack.

Thanks for posting. It's hard to not like cal which is so fucking weird considering how much I've hated from since that UMass game in 1995.

My son's company is taking care of Cal's yard at the Blessings.  He has talked with Cal a few times, and says he's really a nice guy.  When he first called, he said something like "Doug, I have bought this house and my wife hasn't even seen it.  You have to make it look good by the time she gets here this weekend.  You do whatever needs to be done."

Same here,  wouldn't miss either for anything given where I live and that I have a 9th grade basketball player.

True story, tickets for TCU vs a cupcake last year were $1 for the upper deck and $15 for fantastic seats and parking is free, arena was 3/4 empty.  Nuts.
