Quote from: BleedinRed on May 17, 2024, 09:06 AMWhat is really frustrating is bringing in a pitcher and the one thing he can't do is the one thing he does do.  All McEntire had to do was not hit or walk the batter.

He's normally one of our best strike throwers as well.  The other team might hit them 400 feet, but he rarely walks batters.  Just a weird game, and lots of pressure on the pitchers thanks to our inability to score.

Loading bases and then walking in a run because of a refusal to just throw strikes is SOOOOO Arkansas lately
"That's embarrassing.  Looks like Josh Duggar the first time his parents asked him to babysit."

For $7 mil I'll put a webcam in front of my shitter so I can answer fan questions while I drop the Longhorns off in College Station.

Once authored a post that critics claimed, "Was notaslibro level."

He should have been let go a few years ago.  Alas...
I'm on smoko, so leave me alone.

Pee-Wee League, Little League, Pony League, High School ball, coaches all said "make him be a hitter.  Just let your defense do their job."  If he gets a hit, then we lose, but that shit's just stupid. They need a sign for just throw a fucking strike, and let's see what happens.

I agree that we may want to move on from Thompson, but the players are as much (if not more) to blame.

I mean, we get different players every year and yet still the same result.

This team just needs to get hot when the NCAA tournament starts, and they are starting to show signs of life at the plate. Win enough to get a top 8 seed. Lose the first two games sec tourney to rest up for the one that counts, and we will be in a good position to win the whole thing.

Started with an 0-1 count, then threw 4 straight balls.

Yes, and none were even close.

The more I think about last night, the less pissed I am about it.

We hit the ball relatively well given the opposition and his wronghandednness.  Made solid contact at least.  We shut down one of the best offensive teams in the country...not just with Smith and Gaeckle either.  It took us essentially giving the game away for them to score.

Not to mention, as a baseball fan in general, what a great game to watch.  Two great teams going balls out.  One had to lose, and most of the time when they're that evenly matched the home team comes out on top.

We may well end up getting swept, but even if we do it's not necessarily a death knell for our championship hopes.

All McEntire had to do was throw the ball over the plate and see what happens. Forget about "pitching" and throw batting practice.

It was a great game to watch. Excellent pitching and defense on both sides. Like you said, the home team usually wins the type of game we saw last night.

That was 100% why Dave made that change.  He didn't trust Coil to throw strikes, and thought Mac would be in the strike zone.

Raining and lightning in Houston.  We in a weather delay?  Game isn't coming on.

If Coil has a fault, it's that he throws too many strikes.

BleedinRed

Apparently ESPN doesn't think the game should be shown.

BleedinRed

Apparently Aggie hit a 2 run bomb.

Sus-Scrofa

I can't get it to play in the app, says it hasn't started.

Cornhogio

Same here.  Can someone run up and cunt punch ESPN right quick?
